No longer considering himself or herself as the builder of the child's psychic life, the adult must simply be his guardian, and guide the child towards autonomous self-building. Although Montessori declared that she was familiar with Fisher's study, she never admitted this sort of debt, and yet Fisher's contribution to Montessori's family pedagogy is evident.
