Nesta obra, o autor apresenta a Economia Compartilhada como uma alternativa para o desenvolvimento urbano sustentável. Identifica os sistemas econômicos, demonstrando que é possível adotar esse modelo para construir cidades sustentáveis e inteligentes. Por meio dela, a atividade econômica continua a buscar a lucratividade, mas aliada ao desenvolvimento socioambiental. Com isso, empreendimentos que busquem maximizar resultados gastando menos recursos devem ser estimulados, adotando e fomentando políticas de acesso e uso compartilhado dos bens e serviços. Constata-se que a Economia Compartilhada deve ser incentivada e não proibida. Inicialmente, busca-se entender as diferenças entre os sistemas econômicos, observando-se um novo modelo de economia, que consegue conciliar o capital com o social. Em seguida, estuda-se a relação entre a função social e solidária da empresa aplicada no meio urbano, explorando-se os seus efeitos e consequências no desenvolvimento das cidades. Por fim, demonstra que a Economia Compartilhada e o consumo colaborativo surgem como opções sustentáveis e eficazes para o combate ao consumismo desenfreado presente na sociedade atual líquido-moderna. Assim, a sociedade deve se adequar ao contexto socioeconômico para não inviabilizar a criação desses empreendimentos e incentivá-los, por proporcionarem um melhor aproveitamento dos recursos naturais, conciliando o desenvolvimento econômico com um meio urbano sustentável para as presentes e futuras gerações.

Technological innovation – combined with scientific research – has always constituted a driving force of transformation in our societies. At the same time, it is no longer simply possible to transfer technologies from the North to the South; it is also essential to consider technical innovations that are adapted to the social, environmental, cultural and economic conditions of receiving countries, and which can be appropriated by their potential users and as such prove to be real technologies for fostering development.
