The volume presents the diary of one of the great anthropologists at a crucial time in his career. Malinowski's major works grew out of his findings on field trips to New Guinea and North Melanesia from 1914-1918. His journals cover a considerable part of that period of pioneer research. The diary contains observations of native life and customs and vivid descriptions of landscapes. Many entries reveal his approach to his work and the sources of his thought. In his introduction, Raymond Firth discusses the significance of the notebooks which formed the basis for this volume. First published in 1967.

This children's book 'Grandpa Went to Heaven', is written from a Christian perspective for young children who have lost a loved one. What do you tell a child who has lost a loved one and is grieving? Children are so concrete in their thinking, and death can be a very difficult subject to talk about in generic terms, yet especially so in the middle of emotional pain and loss. Yet, they seek answers. This was written as a tool to assist parents and loved ones to help children process death, grief and bereavement. It has beautiful images and acknowledges the sadness of grief, yet also offers hope and comfort as well. There is a foreword section to parents in the book with suggestions to help their children through this very painful time, and tips to customize the book to their specific circumstances, including other loved ones besides a grandpa.

Feminist Utopias written by Frances Bartkowski and has been published by U of Nebraska Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-01-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

The utopias envisioned by Edward Bellamy and other novelists late in the nineteenth century were generally blueprints of government. As satellites of men, women were expected to share in the general improvement of society. The resurgence of the feminist movement since the late 1960s has produced a very different kind of utopian literature. Frances Bartkowski explores a body of work that is striking and vital because it reflects the hopes, fears, and desires of women who have glimpsed the possibilities of a bright new world freed from stifling patriarchal structures. Feminist Utopias is a comparative study of the utopian fiction of nine women writers in the United States, France, and Canada. Except for Charlotte Perkins Gilman's Herland (1915), the prototype for feminist literary utopias, all of the works were published between 1969 and 1986. Bartkowski discusses Monique Wittig's Les Guérillères, Joanna Russ's The Female Man, Marge Piercy's Woman on the Edge of Time, Suzy McKee Charnas's Motherlines, Christine Rochefort's Archaos, ou le jardin étincelant, E. M. Broner's A Weave of Women, Louky Bersianik's The Eugelionne, and two dystopian novels, Charnas's Walk to the End of the World and Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid’s Tale.

Latin Americanism written by Román De la Campa and has been published by U of Minnesota Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Literary Criticism categories.

In this timely book, Roman de la Campa asks to what degree the Latin America studied in U.S. academies is actually an entity "made in the U.S.A." He argues that there is an ever-increasing gap between the political, theoretical, and financial pressures affecting the U.S. academy and Latin America's own cultural, political, and literary practices. De la Campa focuses on the conduct of Latin American literary criticism in U.S. universities and compares this with the "Latin Americanism" of Latin America itself.
