The revised second edition of this practical book reviews the fundamentals of cryogenic liquid behaviour in small and large scale storage systems. The text is based on research findings on the convective and evaporative behaviour of cryogenic fluids, aimed at improving the design, construction and operation of low-loss cryogenic liquid storage systems, with a view to minimising cost and improving operational safety. Since the first edition was published in 2006, the breadth of cryogenic applications and the modelling of cryogenic fluid dynamics (CFD) have expanded in several directions. In this second edition, most chapters have been extended to introduce discussions of these new applications and their safety and energy economy. These include advances in the modelling of CFD required in, for example, the design of miniature cryocoolers and condensers and reboilers, large-scale cryogenic liquid mixture properties and their stability, and the understanding that hazards and safety problems in the public domain increase with the scaling up of cryogenic systems. With helpful summaries at the end of each chapter, the book is an essential reference for anyone working on the design and operation of cryogenic liquid storage and transportation systems.

Conceptual Design And Analysis Of Orbital Cryogenic Liquid Storage And Supply Systems written by Ralph N. Eberhardt and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1981 with categories.

A wide variety of orbital cryogenic liquid storage and supply systems are defined in NASA and DOD long-range plans. These systems include small cooling applications, large chemical and electrical orbit transfer vehicles and resupply tankers. All have the common requirements of low-g fluid management to accomplish gas-free liquid expulsion and efficient thermal control to manage heat leak and tank pressure. A preliminary design study was performed to evaluate tanks ranging from 0.6 to 37.4 cu. 3 (22 to 1320 cu. ft). Liquids of interest were hydrogen, oxygen, methane, argon and helium. Conceptual designs were generated for each tank system and fluid dynamic, thermal and structural analyses were performed for Shuttle compatible operations. Design trades considered the paradox of conservative support structure and minimum thermal input. Orbital performance and weight data were developed, and a technology evaluation was completed. Developments in AI are occurring rapidly, with new applications constantly on the increase, and one of the areas in which interesting developments are always taking place is that of intelligent equipment and special robots. This book presents papers from ICIESR 2023, the 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Equipment and Special Robots, held from 20 to 22 October 2023 in Qingdao, China. The conference series has established a platform for experts, researchers, and students working in related fields to present, exchange, and discuss the latest advances and developments, linking various branches of science and technology. It promotes innovation in, and the application of, intelligent equipment and special robots, and fosters the development of related industries, and this year’s conference brought together 180 participants. A total of 206 submissions was received for the conference, of which 185 were selected for peer review, in the course of which they were evaluated for theme, structure, method, content, language, and format. Of these, 80 papers were accepted for presentation and publication, resulting in an acceptance rate of 39%. Topics covered include intelligent detection technology, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, mechatronics technology, and creative and entertaining robots, among others. Providing a current overview of recent developments in the field, the book will be of interest to all those whose work relates to intelligent equipment and special robots.

Handbook Of Hydrogen Storage written by Michael Hirscher and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-04-26 with Science categories.

Owing to the limited resources of fossil fuels, hydrogen is proposed as an alternative and environment-friendly energy carrier. However, its potential is limited by storage problems, especially for mobile applications. Current technologies, as compressed gas or liquefied hydrogen, comprise severe disadvantages and the storage of hydrogen in lightweight solids could be the solution to this problem. Since the optimal storage mechanism and optimal material have yet to be identified, this first handbook on the topic provides an excellent overview of the most probable candidates, highlighting both their advantages as well as drawbacks. From the contents: ¿ Physisorption ¿ Clathrates ¿ Metal hydrides ¿ Complex hydrides ¿ Amides, imides, and mixtures ¿ Tailoring Reaction Enthalpies ¿ Borazan ¿ Aluminum hydride ¿ Nanoparticles A one-stop reference on all questions concerning hydrogen storage for physical and solid state chemists, materials scientists, chemical engineers, and physicists.

Simulating Self Pressurization In Propellant Tanks Using An Energy Of Fluid Approach written by Amanda Paige Winter and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with categories.

Recent studies focusing on predicting the self pressurization play a significant role in the design of cryogenic storage systems since tank pressure must be controlled for long duration space missions. Incident solar radiation heats the fluid in the tank over time vaporizing the cryogenic liquid. As the liquid vaporizes, the tank pressure increases. The objective of the current research is to develop a finite volume based Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) model of tank pressurization in reduced gravity using an Energy of Fluid (EOF) approach. The FLUENT pressure-based computational model is significantly enhanced to include the EOF method, which will solve the energy equation in terms of internal energy. The enhanced model will numerically predict the thermodynamic properties in each computational cell. The simulation results will provide temperature and pressure histories for a given tank geometry and fill. The objectives of the current study are to complete the model development and validate the model using existing experimental data for tank pressure.
