Since the June 1969 uprising at New York's Stonewall Inn, the very word "Stonewall" has become etched in the American psyche as a synonym for "liberation". Stonewall proved a cataclysmic marker in the lives of gay men and lesbians: it was the point after which gay people were no longer content to live in fearful silence as their most basic rights were trampled on or ignored. Stonewall happened because homosexuals of all races revolted against an act of official oppression. It was indeed a beginning, but it was also the culmination of a long struggle against the tyranny of socially regulated and defined speech about homosexuality. In this insightful and engaging analysis, Byrne R. S. Fone maps out one very significant road to Stonewall - the literary course of male homoerotic desire and the homophobia that has made so much of what homosexuals have written so passionate and moving. Most of the texts Fone analyzes presume that sexuality is the central aspect of identity. Whereas gay literature since 1969 has been a vocal and supporting partner to the activism that has characterized the movement for lesbian and gay rights, before 1969 there were few political initiatives and only a handful of organized groups: the text was dominant.

The definitive account of the Stonewall Riots, the first gay rights march, and the LGBTQ activists at the center of the movement. “Martin Duberman is a national treasure.”—Masha Gessen, The New Yorker On June 28, 1969, the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York's Greenwich Village, was raided by police. But instead of responding with the typical compliance the NYPD expected, patrons and a growing crowd decided to fight back. The five days of rioting that ensued changed forever the face of gay and lesbian life. In Stonewall, renowned historian and activist Martin Duberman tells the full story of this pivotal moment in history. With riveting narrative skill, he re-creates those revolutionary, sweltering nights in vivid detail through the lives of six people who were drawn into the struggle for LGBTQ rights. Their stories combine to form an unforgettable portrait of the repression that led up to the riots, which culminates when they triumphantly participate in the first gay rights march of 1970, the roots of today's pride marches. Fifty years after the riots, Stonewall remains a rare work that evokes with a human touch an event in history that still profoundly affects life today.

Hi, am excited to tell you about my book "The Struggle for Same-Sex Marriage: the road From Stonewall to the Supreme Court" and I hope and pray this book will be worth your read. In June of 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right. The decision rippled through our nation and the world, changing perspectives on so many topics-from marriage to immigration to the role of women in society. This book explores the history of same-sex marriage and its relation to key moments in LGBT history. It looks at how laws and policies have changed over time, and how those changes affected people's lives. We also explore how people make sense of their experiences around these issues, including how they try to understand themselves within them. The subject of same-sex marriage has been an important one for our society. It's been a struggle to get there, and it's been a struggle to maintain that position. For decades, gay rights advocates have fought for the right to marry. In 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples have that right in all 50 states. But more than just having a legal document declaring their relationship, marriage brings with it social and financial benefits that are often denied to same-sex couples who do not share their spouses' gender or sexual orientation-and those benefits can make all the difference in an already difficult life situation. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court, where it was decided that while individual states could still decide whether they wanted to legalize gay marriage or not, federal law prohibited any discrimination based on sexual orientation. After years of struggle and many victories on behalf of the LGBT community (and others), we're finally at a point where everyone has an equal right to love whom they want-and no one should suffer because of who they are. This book is about how we can all make a difference in our communities and beyond by standing up for what we believe in-and how we can do it together. All these and many more were all detailed in this book which I bet you, will be worth every time and money spent on it. Click on BUY NOW button to grab a copy now.

The troop presently left the river and entered the fields from which the crops had been reaped long since. When the horsemen came to a fence twelve men dismounted and threw down enough panels for the others to ride through without breaking their formation. Everything was done with order and precision. Harry could not keep from admiring. It was not often that he saw so early in the war troops who were drilled so beautifully, and who marched so well together. Harry always kept on the far side of the fields, and as the fences were of rails with stakes and riders he was able by bending very low in the saddle to keep hidden behind them. Nevertheless it was delicate work. He was sure that if seen he could escape to the forest through the speed of his horse. But he did not want to be driven off. He wished to follow that troop to its ultimate destination. Another mile or two and the Union force bore away to the right, entering the forest and following a road, where the men rode in files, six abreast. They did not make much noise, beyond the steady beating of the hoofs, but they did not seem to seek concealment. Harry made the obvious deduction that they thought themselves too far beyond the range of the Southern scouts to be noticed. He felt a thrill of satisfaction, because he was there and he had seen them.

“An absorbing biography of the controversial Confederate general, one of the country’s greatest, and oddest heroes.”—The New York Times No one thought Thomas Jackson would grow up to be a hero. Certainly not his childhood friends, who laughed at him when he fell into the river on the way to church and then sat through the service in his wet clothes. The cadets at West Point watched him sweat buckets whenever he had to speak in class and doubted if he’d even graduate. But through it all, Jackson’s determination to succeed served him well. He found that war allowed him to be the kind of man he’d always dreamed of being. While other soldiers fell back in terror, Jackson stood “like a stone wall” and went on to be one of the most brilliant and heroic military leaders in America. A New York Times Outstanding Book of the Year
