A human space traveler trapped on a remote planet must somehow unravel a confounding alien technology—or else surrender himself to a host of incomprehensible horrors For thousands of years, Carter Horton has been traveling across the galaxy toward a distant world capable of supporting human life. At journey’s end, awakened from his millennia-long sleep by a curiously adaptive android, he is informed that his crewmates have all perished due to a system malfunction. But worse is yet to come: Horton’s sentient ship is refusing to return him to Earth, and a strangely cordial predator is waiting for him on the planet’s surface. The repulsive creature, Carnivore, arrived here via a tunnel across the universe, as did his late companion—a human dubbing himself William Shakespeare—whom Carnivore just recently devoured. But the tunnel moves in only one direction, and if Carter is unable to reverse it, he will find himself marooned forever in this incomprehensible world, at the mercy of monsters and a terrifying, mind-freezing alien anomaly that occurs every evening in the “God-hour.” With unparalleled verve, award-winning science fiction Grand Master Clifford D. Simak performs a truly astonishing feat of world-creation in Shakespeare’s Planet. Bursting with intelligence, imagination, and breathtaking invention, this is a gem of speculative fiction from one of the genre’s most revered and innovative artists.

Cosmologists state that the almost-infinite number of planets in the multiverse must mean that duplications will appear. Planet Shakespeare is a sister planet of our own, but its population includes characters which here are only fictional or legendary. Of most interest are those from the cast of "As You Like It," plus a Golem, Satan, a very enabled woman, Pecos Bill, a two-headed alien, and a strange saint. Most of the story takes place on Mu, and its capital, Atlantis, which are still above water.

William Shakespeare visits Athens in 1600 AD. In the city that gave birth to democracy and the theatre, he will discover a new kind of narration and, with his 'spear of wisdom', travel in future to write his first adventure set outside Earth, in the capital city of planet Mars, New Athens. He recounts the works and days of the explorer, philosopher and great benefactor of planet Mars in the 23rd century AD, Timon the Athenian. An epic on humanity beyond the bounds of time and space whereby William Shakespeare records the chronicle of the human effort to colonise the red planet. A story of vindication that connects seven centuries of human will.

Shakespeare And Saturn written by Peter D. Usher and has been published by Peter Lang Incorporated, International Academic Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015 with Astronomy in literature categories.

In the mid-sixteenth century, Copernicus asserted that the Earth was not the center of the universe as was generally believed, but that the sun lay there instead. The relegation of the Earth to the rank of an orbiting planet meant that humankind lost its privileged position as well, thus prompting re-evaluation of all facets of human existence. This transformation in worldview gathered momentum throughout Shakespeare's writing career, yet his canon appears to lack reference to it. Peter D. Usher has studied Hamlet and other Shakespearean plays and has uncovered a consistent pattern of reference to phenomena that prove the correctness of the new worldview, including reference to the infinite universe of stars. These data could not have been known without telescopic aid, which indicates that systematic telescopic study of celestial objects began before the generally accepted date of 1610. In Shakespeare and Saturn, Usher summarizes earlier results and shows that in All's Well That Ends Well, Shakespeare takes account of the last supernova eruption of 1604 known to have occurred in the Milky Way galaxy. He shows further that in Much Ado About Nothing and The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare makes observations concerning Saturn's spectacular ring system that are remarkably accurate.

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, this book offers fresh and exciting insights into the ever-popular works of the world’s greatest playwright. It specifically highlights Shakespeare’s use of the archetypal language of astrological symbolism in both obvious and subtle ways. Such references would have been commonly known in Shakespeare’s time, but their deeper significance is lost to modern-day playgoers and readers. The first half of the book describes the Elizabethan worldview and how the seven known planets were considered an integral part of the cosmos and instrumental in shaping human character. The second half of the book examines six of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays in the light of astrological symbolism, showing how they are entirely keyed to a specific zodiacal sign and its associated (or ruling) planet. The chosen plays are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, The Tempest, and King Lear. Each chapter incorporates information and examples from astrological tradition, classical and Renaissance philosophy, Greek and Roman mythology, esoteric wisdom, modern psychology (especially that of C. G. Jung), and great literature. Thoroughly researched and well-illustrated, this book illuminates the plays from a fresh perspective that will deepen and profoundly transform how we understand them.

Excerpt from Shakespeare and Astrology: From a Student's Point of View If the prognostications of the Science of Planetary Influ ence as to its own future are to be considered worthy of atten tion, we may regard ourselves as living on the eve of an interest ing era at the present time. Whether Astrology and its presages be or' be not adapted to the use of intelligent people is a ques tion on which even they agree to differ we all have what Arte mus Ward used to call our idiot syncrasies many there are who hold that the question never attained the dignity of being one probably the position of those alone is safe who have learned to reserve their judgment until that which forms the basis of so much adverse criticism is removed, namely, a lack of acquaint ance with the subject. Of one thing we on this planet may rest assured if the fortress of our reason is not yet ready to capitulate to anything that comes with such queer credentials, there is at least consid erable knocking at the gate going on at present. The signs in deed are plentiful that this aged, once esteemed, now jeered at science occupies not only wider ground today than it has yet done in our modern life, but that public interest in it is rapidly on the increase. Astronomers are kept busy preparing Ephemer ides of the Planets' Places from year to year; there are well estab lished publications of the kind public library authorities see fit, not only to inlay their vestibules with the Zodiacal Signs, but also to include a considerable amount of the literature on the subject in their lists teachers, more or less qualified, there are in plenty serious students abound in short, it would seem that Astrology is now ready for that vigorous opposition and misrepresentati'on which is always at hand when a great ques tion is ripening for consideration.
