Ishtar sat at the entrance in front of the Great Pyramid at Giza thinking about the journey that was before her. All she had created and built for her descendants had been stolen from them. She sat staring into the glowing pyramid device made of Ethiopian opal that she possessed as reigning Empress of Khemet. She chanted the sacred words and released her energy into the pyramid to activate it. She needed to reconstruct the monthly viewing from a few days ago. She had to be sure of what she saw when activating it under that full moon. "Show me more, Oh Great Light! Show me more, I beseech Thee," she said in the ancient language of her time. She then projected the intention of seeing next month's future viewing. The pyramid device obliged and obeyed her request. She was about to release more of her energy into the pyramid when she heard a voice from behind call her name. She turned and saw her mate, Sneferu. Ishtar's heart dropped into her stomach. She knew what it meant for her to get caught at the Pyramid at Giza performing this ritual at any other time but under a full moon. It was far worse for her to open the portal and travel anywhere but to the places the Hermetic Council told her to. This was STRICTLY forbidden. Sneferu ran towards Ishtar when he saw the pigment leave her once charcoal black flesh because she was giving energy to the pyramid. He knew of the danger that she was in. Ishtar knew she couldn't let him stop her plans; not after what she had just saw. She knew she didn't have time to explain the story to him, and then have enough energy to open the portal again for travel. She turned and ran towards the portal as she yelled to Sneferu, "I must go, our children need me!" "ISHTAR NO," he yelled -- but it was too late. She had disintegrated her atoms and disappeared into the ethereal rainbow of light coming from the Great Pyramid.

In the classic tradition of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, here for the first time in English is the timeless wisdom of China’s greatest emperor Tang Taizong (598–649 AD), which is still being studied more than 1,300 years later as an invaluable guide to leading and managing. Tang Taizong is arguably the greatest Emperor in Chinese history. In Asia, many historians rank him with such rulers as Augustus, Genghis Khan, and Napoleon. When he founded the Tang dynasty, Taizong was only twenty-eight years old, and his chief accomplishments were on the battlefield, where he personally slew 1,000 of the enemy. Ultimately, he would defeat the descendants of Attila the Hun, open up the Silk Road trading route, create a golden age of prosperity and cosmopolitan culture, preside over a society in which women enjoyed higher status, and allow Christianity and Islam into China for the first time as well as introduce Buddhism into Tibet. His dynasty would last 300 years. Here, author Chinghua Tang presents conversations between Taizong and his gifted advisers that reveal core aspects of leadership, among them: how to appraise oneself and assess others, how to enhance organizational effectiveness, how to compete with rivals, how to grow power and influence without losing the respect of others, how to learn from the rise and fall of predecessors, and how to craft one’s legacy. An indispensable guide that is as relevant for a middle-manager, military commander, or athletic coach as for a school principal, political leader, or over-stressed parent, The Ruler’s Guide doesn’t just reveal the insights that have kept Taizong’s legacy alive, it spells out how that wisdom is a match for today’s fast-paced, ever changing world.

The Confucian doctrine of tianxia (all under heaven) outlines a unitary worldview that cherishes global justice and transcends social, geographic, and political divides. For contemporary scholars, it has held myriad meanings, from the articulation of a cultural imaginary and political strategy to a moralistic commitment and a cosmological vision. The contributors to Chinese Visions of World Order examine the evolution of tianxia's meaning and practice in the Han dynasty and its mutations in modern times. They attend to its varied interpretations, its relation to realpolitik, and its revival in twenty-first-century China. They also investigate tianxia's birth in antiquity and its role in empire building, invoke its cultural universalism as a new global imagination for the contemporary world, analyze its resonance and affinity with cosmopolitanism in East-West cultural relations, discover its persistence in China's socialist internationalism and third world agenda, and critique its deployment as an official state ideology. In so doing, they demonstrate how China draws on its past to further its own alternative vision of the current international system. Contributors. Daniel A. Bell, Chishen Chang, Kuan-Hsing Chen, Prasenjit Duara, Hsieh Mei-yu, Haiyan Lee, Mark Edward Lewis, Lin Chun, Viren Murthy, Lisa Rofel, Ban Wang, Wang Hui, Yiqun Zhou

She quietly reminisced . It was very hot in the market place, she found it too busy and crowded, while she was selling her wares. Simple jewellery, she made from pieces of wood and scraps of metal; she was tired and hot. When she shut her eyes she swayed in the heat. Earlier that day, a lovely butterfly flew into the house, before she could catch it; there it flew out again, like an omen. It had the colours of gold and peacock blue that shimmered in the heat...Seven Tales of the Timeless Traveller consists of seven historical and romantic journeys into other lives with moral lessons that the souls learn. The author Susanne West is a spiritual writer, poet and healer living in Lincolnshire.

Emperor Yang Of The Sui Dynasty written by Victor Cunrui Xiong and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-02-01 with History categories.

Looking at the life and legacy of Emperor Yang (569–618) of the brief Sui dynasty in a new light, this book presents a compelling case for his importance to Chinese history. Author Victor Cunrui Xiong utilizes traditional scholarship and secondary literature from China, Japan, and the West to go beyond the common perception of Emperor Yang as merely a profligate tyrant. Xiong accepts neither the traditional verdict against Emperor Yang nor the apologist effort to revise it, and instead offers a reassessment of Emperor Yang by exploring the larger political, economic, military, religious, and diplomatic contexts of Sui society. This reconstruction of the life of Emperor Yang reveals an astute visionary with literary, administrative, and reformist accomplishments. While a series of strategic blunders resulting from the darker side of his personality led to the collapse of the socioeconomic order and to his own death, the Sui legacy that Emperor Yang left behind lived on to provide the foundation for the rise of the Tang dynasty, the pinnacle of medieval Chinese civilization.
