Novelas a Marcia Leonarda (amante de Lope de Vega) es el título con que se editan en la actualidad cuatro novelas cortas: Las fortunas de Diana (publicada en La Filomena, 1621), La desdicha por la honra, La más prudente venganza y Guzmán el Bravo (publicadas en La Circe, 1624). Las cuatro novelas reproducen las convenciones de cuatro géneros distintos: la novela bizantina (Las fortunas de Diana), la novela morisca (La desdicha por la honra), la novela italiana (La prudente venganza) y los libros de caballerías (Guzmán el Bravo).
Las fortunas de Diana narra la historia de una joven que acuerda escaparse con su amante tras descubrir que espera un hijo. Diana, tras aguardar al joven Celio por horas, lo confunde con un transeúnte a quien lanza desde su balcón joyas y otras posesiones. Su amante Celio no acude a la cita por no hallar la forma de separarse de la compañía de Otavio, hermano de Diana. Ésta se va tras un desconocido y al no encontrar a Celio se cree traicionada; mientras tanto el joven la busca. Diana da a luz a su hijo y sale en busca de Celio en hábito de hombre. Después de una serie de aventuras, Diana llega a ser Virrey de las Indias y encuentra a Celio preso por haber matado al transeúnte desconocido que había robado las joyas a Diana. La pareja se reencuentra y la novella tiene un final feliz.
En este argumento se mezclan la aventura y el cuento con el elemento fantástico.
