O presente livro centra-se na investigação da universidade em África, o tipo de ciência que se gerou e como isso afetou a empregabilidade dos graduados no continente. Aplica as variáveis: modos de produção de pensamento, número de graduados, grau de empregabilidade e expansão do ensino terciário para criticar o processo institutório do ensino superior com maior incidência para Moçambique. O livro resulta da pesquisa realizada em cinco anos, de 2014 a 2018, e em quatro universidades moçambicanas, nomeadamente, UEM – Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, UP – Universidade Pedagógica, UPA – Universidade Politécnica A Politécnica e UCM – Universidade Católica de Moçambique, centrando-se nos dados do período entre 1975–2012. Foram definidos quatro cursos, na proporção de um curso para cada uma das seguintes áreas de geração de conhecimento: Ciências Exatas e Biológicas, Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Ciências Tecnológicas e Ciências Humanas Aplicadas, e distribuídos na conformidade de um curso para cada uma das universidades já mencionadas. O critério de seleção e definição da especialização corresponde às quatro divisões das áreas de geração de pensamento supracitadas e que, a partir de Tracey study1 dos estudantes formados entre 1975 e 2012, mede-se o impacto do saber oferecido pela universidade na inserção dos graduados no mercado de trabalho e como essa mão de obra de trabalho contribui para o crescimento do(s) país(es). As considerações finais a partir do estudo incluem o fato de que inicialmente houve uma relação implícita entre ensino superior, inserção dos graduados no mercado e valor da universidade. Todavia, à medida que o sistema se consolidou, as incertezas aumentaram e o nexo ensino superior e bem-estar com base na empregabilidade se tornou explícito.
