Have you like millions of Christians around the world believed that any Bible version is the pure, inerrant, and perfect Word of God? As Christians, we all hold to the fact that God's Word, the Holy Bible, is the final authority of what we believe and practice as Christians. However, if you discovered that the Bible you are reading and believe to be God's Holy Word has complete verses missing, and that it removes the blood atonement of Jesus, questions His deity, deletes the Trinity, and then adds and subtracts words that completely changes the meaning, would it upset you to discover that you had been deceived and lied to? The Truth About The TRUTH is a must read for all Christians. This book will challenge you in many ways and yet provide solid evidence that there has indeed been a huge ongoing deception concerning the modern bible versions. Here are a couple questions to ponder: Does your "easier-to-read modern bible" contain only the truth, or has it been corrupted with verses missing and words added and deleted, which change the meaning of God's Word? Are you willing to apply 2 Timothy 2:15 to find out? Challenge yourself and "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth."

For the first time Truth: A Contemporary Reader brings together essays that have shaped two aspects of a fundamental philosophical topic: the nature of truth and the value of truth. Featuring 22 essays, this up-to-date reader includes seminal work by leading figures in contemporary analytic philosophy. It charts the development of the central 'grand proposals' about the nature of truth, and subsequently how their influence gradually diminished in face of new theories developed in the 20th and 21st-centuries. The reader also demonstrates how truth is often taken to be valuable in various ways, in particular as the norm of correctness for belief and assertion, and the relationship between truth and other epistemic values. With introductory overviews to each group of related papers complemented by guides to further reading, this reader introduces the central debates, familiarizes students with the most important work in the field and covers pivotal theories of truth including: - correspondence theories - coherentism, pragmatism, verificationism - deflationary, primitivist, and pluralist theories Moreover, by showing how thoughts about truth and value bear heavily on one another, Truth: A Contemporary Reader provides new opportunities for understanding and advancing the link between these central topics. This is an essential collection for anyone studying or working in metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of language today.

The definitive and essential collection of classic and new essays on analytic theories of truth, revised and updated, with seventeen new chapters. The question "What is truth?" is so philosophical that it can seem rhetorical. Yet truth matters, especially in a "post-truth" society in which lies are tolerated and facts are ignored. If we want to understand why truth matters, we first need to understand what it is. The Nature of Truth offers the definitive collection of classic and contemporary essays on analytic theories of truth. This second edition has been extensively revised and updated, incorporating both historically central readings on truth's nature as well as up-to-the-moment contemporary essays. Seventeen new chapters reflect the current trajectory of research on truth.

First published in 1998, this volume has its origin in a meeting that was held in Santiago de Compostela University, Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in January 1996. The meeting was organized by the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science in cooperation with the Association for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science in Spain. Within analytical philosophy issues such as the definability of truth, its semantic relevance, its role in the distinction between formal and natural languages, the status of truth-bearers or in its case of truth-makers, have become a crossroads in the studies of logic, philosophy of science, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, epistemology and ontology. Thus, in spite of what the title Truth in Perspective may suggest to the reader at first, the present volume is not only - though it is also a presentation of different theories or conceptions of truth. Most of the book presents a vision of different groups of philosophical questions in which the issue of truth appears embedded together with other related themes, from different points of view.

Revenge Of The Liar written by JC Beall and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-12-13 with Philosophy categories.
The Liar paradox raises foundational questions about logic, language, and truth (and semantic notions in general). A simple Liar sentence like 'This sentence is false' appears to be both true and false if it is either true or false. For if the sentence is true, then what it says is the case; but what it says is that it is false, hence it must be false. On the other hand, if the statement is false, then it is true, since it says (only) that it is false. How, then, should we classify Liar sentences? Are they true or false? A natural suggestion would be that Liars are neither true nor false; that is, they fall into a category beyond truth and falsity. This solution might resolve the initial problem, but it beckons the Liar's revenge. A sentence that says of itself only that it is false or beyond truth and falsity will, in effect, bring back the initial problem. The Liar's revenge is a witness to the hydra-like nature of Liars: in dealing with one Liar you often bring about another. JC Beall presents fourteen new essays and an extensive introduction, which examine the nature of the Liar paradox and its resistance to any attempt to solve it. Written by some of the world's leading experts in the field, the papers in this volume will be an important resource for those working in truth studies, philosophical logic, and philosophy of language, as well as those with an interest in formal semantics and metaphysics.

Truth depends in some sense on reality. But it is a rather delicate matter to spell this intuition out in a plausible and precise way. According to the theory of truth-making this intuition implies that either every truth or at least every truth of a certain class of truths has a so-called truth-maker, an entity whose existence accounts for truth. This book aims to provide several ways of assessing the correctness of this controversial claim. This book presents a detailed introduction to the theory of truth-making, which outlines truth-maker relations, the ontological category of truth-making entities, and the scope of a truth-maker theory. The essays brought together here represent the most important articles on truth-making in the last three decades as well as new essays by leading researchers in the field of the theory of truth and of truth-making.

Multiple Narratives Versions And Truth In The Contemporary Novel written by Nicholas Frangipane and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-22 with Literary Criticism categories.
Multiple Narratives, Versions and Truth in the Contemporary Novel considers the shifting perception of truth in fiction. Nicholas Frangipane examines the narrative technique of telling multiple versions of the same sets of events, presenting both true and false versions of the events within a fictional work. This book looks closely at these “Reflexive Double Narratives” in order to understand the way many contemporary writers have attempted to work past postmodernism without forgetting its lessons. Frangipane explores how writers like Ian McEwan, Yann Martel and Alice Munro have departed from the radical experimentation of their predecessors and instead make sincere attempts to find ways that fictional writing can reveal enduring truths, and in so doing, redefine the meaning of “truth” itself and signal the emergence of post-postmodernism.

Truth and Social Reality: A Metaphysical Inquiry presents a new theory of social truth and social construction. The book weds truthmaker theory with recent work in social ontology, arguing that social truths are true in virtue of socially constructed portions of the world. It focuses on the construction of human social kinds like gender, race, class, and disability. The book offers novel accounts of social construction, realism, social kind pluralism, social context, the context-dependency of social truth, and social vagueness. Overall, Truth and Social Reality presents a realist picture of the social world on which there are objective truths about the way things are in the social world. Social truth is not socially constructed, despite being grounded in a socially constructed reality. The theory it provides nonetheless captures the contingency, alterability, and vagueness of the social world and the context dependency of social truth. The book also addresses the relationships between truth, power, and justice. It argues that truth itself is not a tool of oppression, as some maintain. Rather, truth and truth-telling play an essential role in upending oppression and achieving justice. Truth and Social Reality rebuts the cynicism of the "post-truth" age by defending the possibility and value of social truth.

What is truth? How should we define it? Should we define it christologically as Jesus did when he revealed himself to Thomas as the embodiment of truth, or should we appeal to philosophy for help? This book explores possible answers to these questions. More specifically, the book offers a brief survey of how different philosophical theories have attempted to define truth. After finding them somewhat incomplete, the book shows how an adequate account of truth is given by the Judeo-Christian tradition’s view of omniscience. By drawing from the rich tradition of the church fathers, the book notes how naturalistic views of truth fail to account for the existence of truth prior to the evolution of the human mind. This problem, however, is a non-issue for a theistic account of truth and makes a strong case for the existence of objective truth even before the human mind was designed.
