This publication contains a range of comparable, cross-national education indicators for 19 middle-income non-OECD countries (which comprise over half of the world population) including Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, and the Russian Federation. By analysing trends in these countries between 1995 and 2003 in comparison to OECD countries, it examines the extent to which countries were able to widen participation in higher levels of education and the factors involved. The International Handbook of Leadership for Learning brings together chapters by distinguished authors from thirty-one countries in nine different regions of the world. Whereas common terms such as ‘instructional leadership’ reduce learning to ‘outcomes’, leadership for learning embraces a much wider, developmental view of learning.
