This dissertation explores the missional nature of the Abrahamic blessing motif in Scripture as compared with the Papua New Guinean Christian Revival Crusade missionary movement. Although references to the Abrahamic blessing are scattered throughout the works of various missiologists and theologians, my research is one of the few to provide an in depth analysis of the biblical motif within the whole context of Scripture. By identifying the missional patterns of the Abrahamic blessing motif in Scripture and in the PNG case study I illustrate the continued fulfillment of the Abrahamic blessing through the Old and New Testaments and the contemporary PNG Church. My research on blessing also revealed that God's blessing was created to multiply and extend beyond itself. As creation was blessed with the ability to reproduce and spread life, so believers today, as heirs of this same blessing, are enabled and called to extend the blessing of life through Christ to all the peoples of the world. The findings of my research indicate that God's promise, first spoken to Abram and interwoven in the destiny of His chosen people, continues to be a significant model of God's mission on earth. I conclude that the parallels between the mission of God in Scripture and the mission of God in Papua New Guinea shed light not only upon the nature of God but also on the role of the Church as God's agent of blessing to the nations. The significance of this research is multifaceted as it contributes to the contemporary Church's understanding of the missio Dei, records an unexplored chapter of Melanesian indigenous mission history and impacts the foundational motivations and methodology of contemporary mission praxis.

Is the Abrahamic blessing of Genesis 12:1-3 still active in the world today? Does God still extend his blessing to the nations through his people? The author found the answer to these questions in one of the most isolated regions of the world, Papua New Guinea. In this book Sarita D. Gallagher compares the missional nature of the Abrahamic blessing motif in Scripture to a national revival that took place in Papua New Guinea. By identifying the shared missional patterns, she illustrates the continued fulfillment of the Abrahamic blessing through the Old and New Testaments and the contemporary Papua New Guinean Church. The significance of this research is multifaceted: the text contributes new insights to the global Church's understanding of the missio Dei, records an unexplored chapter of Melanesian indigenous mission history, and impacts the foundational motivations and methodology of contemporary mission praxis.

In The Spirit of Praise, Monique Ingalls and Amos Yong bring together a multidisciplinary, scholarly exploration of music and worship in global pentecostal-charismatic Christianity at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The Spirit of Praise contends that gaining a full understanding of this influential religious movement requires close listening to its songs and careful attention to its patterns of worship. The essays in this volume place ethnomusicological, theological, historical, and sociological perspectives into dialogue. By engaging with these disciplines and exploring themes of interconnection, interface, and identity within musical and ritual practices, the essays illuminate larger social processes such as globalization, sacralization, and secularization, as well as the role of religion in social and cultural change. Aside from the editors, the contributors are Peter Althouse, Will Boone, Mark Evans, Ryan R. Gladwin, Birgitta J. Johnson, Jean Ngoya Kidula, Miranda Klaver, Andrew Mall, Kimberly Jenkins Marshall, Andrew M. McCoy, Martijn Oosterbaan, Dave Perkins, Wen Reagan, Tanya Riches, Michael Webb, and Michael Wilkinson.
