It was always been my dream to write a poetry book. I have been writing since I was twelve years old-poetry was my way to express myself through good times, bad times and just times. I found myself writing in all my notebooks, envelopes, whatever I could write on when the feeling or urge came over me. I even wrote about the deceased, for the family, for birthdays. It was always inside me. I had to let it out-this book is a journey of my times, my life, my addiction and myself.

Mildly addictive Poetry is just that for most readers that have commented it is "mildly" to "wildly" addictive, some people tell me that they read it every day. This is around 200 of the 6000 plus poems that I have written so far. This is book one of what will be a series if there is enough interest in this first book. I hope you enjoy it, but most of all I hope it contains thought starters for you.

Hey Readers, I just wanted to take time and tell you about myself and my Sweet Addiction 1st Series book “Just like You.” I started writing when I was in the sixth grade due to an English assignment of writing a poem. I realized then, that I liked rhyming words and for every little thing I saw, I wrote a poem. As years went by my writing has grown and I started to get into subjects about friends, family, birthdays, etc. I have written three books since the sixth grade that I have in journals. This last book took me seven years to write because I wrote when I felt a certain emotion. I turned to poetry when I had no one to talk to, I turned to poetry when I was upset, I turned to poetry when I was happy, and I turned to poetry when I was sad. I found writing as a way to vent and then I would look back at my poems and remember the moment. I always felt better after writing. I am not a person to use profanity to much in person but in certain poems that’s how I felt and so I wrote it instead of saying them. My book has every kind of emotion in your every day life. That is why it is called “Just like You.” Everyone feels sad, happy, angry, and in love. I have had friends come up to me and I would write them dedication poems, and some people wanted to borrow my journals because they can relate to the poems. I didn’t want to let out my only journals so I would let them read it when I was around. I never thought of publishing until my uncle passed away. My family is my biggest fan. My cousins loved reading my poetry, my uncle was my critic and said I had a talent and he loved to hear whenever I had a new poem. Another big inspiration for me to publish is for my cousin that is 13 years old right now. She has been a fan of mine for awhile and she is the type to hold all her emotions inside and not talk to anyone about them. I showed her how I turned to poetry and how she could share them or keep them to herself and I told her secrets on how she can write without anyone knowing who she is writing about. Writing poetry is now her way of letting it out. Her new best friend is her journal. My uncle who passed away believed in me and my cousin looks up to me and that is what brought me to publishing my book so that I can share my feelings, experiences and words with my readers. I hope you enjoy the first series of Sweet Addiction “Just like You.”

Poetry. In ADDICTIVE AVERSIONS we encounter the life-force of sex, expressed in the individual body of the poet, but just as blind, asocial and irresistible, hence the title. Alfredo de Palchi is both tough and imaginative. He is absolutely uncompromising, and his poems are painful and exalting to read. One does not come away from his stark and terrible and hilarious work untouched. James Dickey [De Palchi's poetry] casts a revealing light on the dubious existential foundations of all mankind...these disturbing poems cumulate into a redoubtable wisdom -- The Antioch Review. Translated from the Italian by Sonia Raiziss and others.

My poems are written in different rhyme schemes and vary from romantic to erotic to addictive poetry, and there are poems about death. Addiction can take many forms--drugs, food, and even people. I use metaphor to describe some of my poetry. Much is about new found love and optimism, as well as lost love or requited love. I trust you will enjoy the poetry of D. J. Reynolds for years to come.

Those who suffer from the disease of addiction are simply human beings, sometimes it can be difficult to remember that. The purpose of this book is simple: to make others feel a little less alone, and to broaden our understanding of what goes on in an addicts mind. From one human being to another do everything out of kindness and love, and from a place of open mindedness and tolerance. Comprised within these covers are poems that have been written by the author over the last two rehab facilities, indicating the emotions that a lot of those suffering from addiction go through as they battle to take back their lives.
