These stories were first written from late 2017-June 2018. It was while I was a freelance journalist with The People's World (PW). The amazing group of editors there helped flush out my voice with stories I knew needed to be read. While at PW I was humbled to see my stories time and time again be the most clicked/read stories of the week. Most of my stories had 1000's of hits a day for over 5 days in a row constantly. I always said, it is the combination of a good nose for a story and the great editing team I shared which was a winning combination. Oklahoman Mark Maxey is a Yuchi Indian, enrolled in the Muscogee Nation, and has studied radio/TV/film with an Art minor in college. He is a member of the National Writers Union, UAW Local 1981/AFL-CIO. He's worked as an administrative assistant, petroleum landman, barista, staff writer, paralegal, content producer and graphic designer. He spent six months as a National Data Team volunteer for the Bernie Sanders for President campaign.

This study was designed to investigate the adoption of Internet social media innovations by U.S. law enforcement agencies with attention to the organizational and environmental factors that explain their adoption behavior. First, current and possible usage areas of social media sites and their benefits to law enforcement in terms of public relations are laid out. Then, after a discussion of previous diffusion-of-innovations studies with a specific focus on organizational innovativeness, data gathered from a sample of agencies were analyzed to test hypotheses drawn from the literature. The sample included 246 U.S. local law enforcement agencies with at least ten full-time-equivalent employees. Bivariate analysis of social media presence of agencies showed that many likely organizational variables, especially size, diversity, previous adoption of Internet related innovations and cosmopolitanism were significantly related to social media adoption. The results of a mutlivariate analysis on social media adoption and the pace of adoption demonstrated a relatively stronger impact of organizational factors, especially outreach beyond the agency, than environmental factors.
