Have you ever been in a conversation that went sideways on you and you didn't know why. Sure you have, we all have, and it doesn't matter whether it was with your spouse, children, friends, client, boss or employee. You found yourself at a loss because you didn't know what caused the sudden shift in direction. That is what this book is about. "Adult conversations" will give you the tools to redirect the conversation where it belongs or signal you that it is time to shut it down. My hope is that through my stories, this tool or concept can be passed on and applied in your daily life. Nothing comes easily. Using this communication tool takes time and patience. Simplicity is the key to this book. If you have the right tool and know the correct application of that tool, then the task becomes much easier. Sometimes it is difficult to talk to certain people, even a person you have known all of your life. The key to unlocking that cumbersome situation is simply knowing the tool to use. That's what this book is about. I inserted a number of short stories to illustrate how this tool works. Enjoy.

Guide For Advanced Nursing Care Of The Adult With Congenital Heart Disease written by Serena Francesca Flocco and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-01 with Medical categories.

The aim of this book is to provide one central resource for nurses within the adult spectrum of life-long congenital heart disease care who are seeking expert guidance for their practice, regardless of clinical setting. Over the past 50 years, advances in surgical techniques and medical therapies have drastically improved the number of congenital heart disease patients surviving into adulthood, with the result being that there are now more adults then children living with congenital heart disease. In the past three decades, recognition of this new cardiology subspecialty has given way to formalized programs, standards of care, and multidisciplinary expertise. Indeed Nursing care of adult patients with congenital heart disease (ACHD) is a relatively new medical subspecialty with limited knowledge and guidance available and also an important component of the multidisciplinary care team. Nursing care of the ACHD encompasses a holistic approach to the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing of these unique individuals across their lifespan. Understanding the intricacies for the various heterogeneous defect types, the transition from pediatric to adult care, the unique educational and self-care needs, life-events such as pregnancy/reproduction, advanced heart failure, and end-of-life care helps prepare the nurse caring for the ACHD patient. Nurses as a first point of care for the ACHD patients play a pivotal role in the education and empowerment of the ACHD patient population and provide an invaluable role in the multidisciplinary team and with this guide nurses can feel confident in the quality of the care they provide. This book aims to introduce nursing focused care to wider audiences, nurses, medical technicians, and physicians who are involved in the management and treatment of ACHD patients. Improving care and the quality of life for adult congenital heart disease patients with a multidisciplinary team-based approach, including nursing care, should be a central goal for all ACHD programs.

Mediated Discourse written by Ron Scollon and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-09-26 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Mediated Discourse: The Nexus of Practice sets out a discursive theory of human action. Language and action are intimately related. The difficult question to answer is how they are related. Mediated Discourse Theory looks into social relationships to see how the use of language is both a form of action in itself and is also indirectly related to all other forms of human action. Through the empirical study of a one year old child learning to exchange objects with caregivers, Scollon challenges the commonly held claim that all practices are represented in discourse and that all discourse has the function of structuring practice. Calling upon work in interactional sociolinguistics, critical discourse analysis, anthropological linguistics, sociocultural psychology, and intercultural communication, the Mediated Discourse Theory set out in this book resolves current problematic issues such as how practices are learned across the boundaries of groups and how individuals come to be socialized as social actors.
