Advanced Inequalities written by George A. Anastassiou and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Mathematics categories.

This monograph presents univariate and multivariate classical analyses of advanced inequalities. This treatise is a culmination of the author's last thirteen years of research work. The chapters are self-contained and several advanced courses can be taught out of this book. Extensive background and motivations are given in each chapter with a comprehensive list of references given at the end. The topics covered are wide-ranging and diverse. Recent advances on Ostrowski type inequalities, Opial type inequalities, Poincare and Sobolev type inequalities, and HardyOpial type inequalities are examined. Works on ordinary and distributional Taylor formulae with estimates for their remainders and applications as well as ChebyshevGruss, Gruss and Comparison of Means inequalities are studied. The results presented are mostly optimal, that is the inequalities are sharp and attained. Applications in many areas of pure and applied mathematics, such as mathematical analysis, probability, ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical analysis, information theory, etc., are explored in detail, as such this monograph is suitable for researchers and graduate students. It will be a useful teaching material at seminars as well as an invaluable reference source in all science libraries.

Explaining Inequality written by Maurizio Franzini and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-14 with Business & Economics categories.

Inequalities in incomes and wealth have increased in advanced countries, making our economies less dynamic, our societies more unjust and our political processes less democratic. As a result, reducing inequalities is now a major economic, social and political challenge. This book provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of the economics of inequality. Until recently economic inequality has been the object of limited research efforts, attracting only modest attention in the political arena; despite important advances in the knowledge of its dimensions, a convincing understanding of the mechanisms at its roots is still lacking. This book summarizes the topic and provides an interpretation of the mechanisms responsible for increased disparities. Building on this analysis the book argues for an integrated set of policies addressing the roots of inequalities in incomes and wealth Explaining Inequality will be of interest to students, researchers and practitioners concerned with inequality, economic and public policy and political economy.

Risk And Uncertainty Reduction By Using Algebraic Inequalities written by Michael T. Todinov and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-06-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book covers the application of algebraic inequalities for reliability improvement and for uncertainty and risk reduction. It equips readers with powerful domain-independent methods for reducing risk based on algebraic inequalities and demonstrates the significant benefits derived from the application for risk and uncertainty reduction. Algebraic inequalities: • Provide a powerful reliability improvement, risk and uncertainty reduction method that transcends engineering and can be applied in various domains of human activity • Present an effective tool for dealing with deep uncertainty related to key reliability-critical parameters of systems and processes • Permit meaningful interpretations which link abstract inequalities with the real world • Offer a tool for determining tight bounds for the variation of risk-critical parameters and complying the design with these bounds to avoid failure • Allow optimising designs and processes by minimising the deviation of critical output parameters from their specified values and maximising their performance This book is primarily for engineering professionals and academic researchers in virtually all existing engineering disciplines.

Inequalities Based On Sobolev Representations written by George A. Anastassiou and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-04 with Mathematics categories.

Inequalities based on Sobolev Representations deals exclusively with very general tight integral inequalities of Chebyshev-Grüss, Ostrowski types and of integral means, all of which depend upon the Sobolev integral representations of functions. Applications illustrate inequalities that engage in ordinary and weak partial derivatives of the involved functions. This book also derives important estimates for the averaged Taylor polynomials and remainders of Sobolev integral representations. The results are examined in all directions and through both univariate and multivariate cases. This book is suitable for researchers, graduate students, and seminars in subareas of mathematical analysis, inequalities, partial differential equations and information theory.

This book is intended for the Mathematical Olympiad students who wish to prepare for the study of inequalities, a topic now of frequent use at various levels of mathematical competitions. In this volume we present both classic inequalities and the more useful inequalities for confronting and solving optimization problems. An important part of this book deals with geometric inequalities and this fact makes a big difference with respect to most of the books that deal with this topic in the mathematical olympiad. The book has been organized in four chapters which have each of them a different character. Chapter 1 is dedicated to present basic inequalities. Most of them are numerical inequalities generally lacking any geometric meaning. However, where it is possible to provide a geometric interpretation, we include it as we go along. We emphasize the importance of some of these inequalities, such as the inequality between the arithmetic mean and the geometric mean, the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, the rearrangementinequality, the Jensen inequality, the Muirhead theorem, among others. For all these, besides giving the proof, we present several examples that show how to use them in mathematical olympiad problems. We also emphasize how the substitution strategy is used to deduce several inequalities.

Intelligent Analysis Fractional Inequalities And Approximations Expanded written by George A. Anastassiou and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-15 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book focuses on computational and fractional analysis, two areas that are very important in their own right, and which are used in a broad variety of real-world applications. We start with the important Iyengar type inequalities and we continue with Choquet integral analytical inequalities, which are involved in major applications in economics. In turn, we address the local fractional derivatives of Riemann–Liouville type and related results including inequalities. We examine the case of low order Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives and inequalities without initial conditions, together with related approximations. In the next section, we discuss quantitative complex approximation theory by operators and various important complex fractional inequalities. We also cover the conformable fractional approximation of Csiszar’s well-known f-divergence, and present conformable fractional self-adjoint operator inequalities. We continue by investigating new local fractional M-derivatives that share all the basic properties of ordinary derivatives. In closing, we discuss the new complex multivariate Taylor formula with integral remainder. Sharing results that can be applied in various areas of pure and applied mathematics, the book offers a valuable resource for researchers and graduate students, and can be used to support seminars in related fields.

Worlds Apart: Social Inequality in a Global Age, Third Edition is intended as the primary text for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in Social Stratification and Inequality courses, primarily taught in Sociology departments. This book focuses primarily on social inequalities in the American context. However, a trend in this course is how the global inequalities are effecting, and affected by social stratification and inequality in America. This edition reflects that trend.
