Prashna deals with answering questions asked to a Daivajna based on the moment in which the Prasna is asked or the Prashna Kundali cast. Like Hora Shastra, it is an extensive discipline that requires years of practice to master. Before advancing to Prashna, one must have a fair understanding of Hora Shastra, i.e., natal horoscopy. Prashna Shastra builds upon the same fundamentals of Jyotisha, such as Graha, Rasi, Bhava, and Nakshatra Karakatvas. After covering the fundamentals of Prashna in volume 23A, the focus here is to explore some advanced methods of Prashna, including Ashtamangala, Devaprashna and Yuddhaprashna, among others. This volume also covers lesser-used aspects of Prashna, such as dreams and omens. A wise Daivajna is expected to have a wide knowledge of several disciplines, including dreams and omens. Even though they are important, they are less discussed in the Jyotisha community. I have brought them to the earnest seekers to build their knowledge holistically. If you are looking for a book with practical demonstrations and live examples, this book is not for you. This volume mainly aims to explore and build a robust theoretical foundation on several lesser-known aspects of Prashna so that the seeker can develop a comprehensive understanding of various branches of Jyotish. Even though the book mainly focuses on theory, I sincerely hope that the seekers will find it useful.

Prashna Upanishad is attributed to sage Pippalada and is in the Gopatha Brahmana of the Atharva Veda. This Upanishad gets its name from the word Prashna , which means “a Question” in Sanskrit. When one’s mind is peaceful, the heart is loving, basic needs are well taken care of, Then a question that arises is directly addressed by the Divine, since it is addressed only to the Divine. 3rd Question यत् चित्तः तेन एषः प्राणम् आयाति प्राणः तेजसा युक्तः । सह आत्मना यथा सङ्कल्पितं लोकं नयति ॥ yaccittastenaiṣa prāṇamāyāti prāṇastejasā yuktaḥ । sahātmanā yathāsaṅkalpitaṃ lokaṃ nayati ॥ 3.10 3.10 This verse is a Maha Vakya. It is a Supreme statement. It states an inviolable truth. At the hour of Death, the Thought predominant in the mind becomes the Basis for the new birth, governs parameters like place of birth, parents, resources, happiness and further evolution. This is easily verified by observing and noting down the last thought at bedtime. First thought in the morning while getting up shall be the same. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ For the Sanskrit Enthusiast, each verse is given in Devanagari, with a Latin transliteration, and Padacheda.

A Hindu Primer Yaksha Prashna written by Dr. A.V. Srinivasan and has been published by Periplus Line LLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Religion categories.

Mahabharata, the Indian epic, has received universal acclaim for its poetic finesse, wealth of wisdom, abundance of ethical and moral values that transcend time in their relevance. BhagavadGita, forming part of this epic, is not a mere religious discourse; 'not meant merely to give peace of mind...' as Swami Ranganathananda said. The question/answer mode is often the means for imparting knowledge, secular or spiritual, in scriptures/epics including the Gita. Yaksha Prashna found in Mahabharata is a typical example.Yudhishtira demonstrates patience and forbearance in answering numerous tough questions by his spiritual father disguised as a yaksha while his brothers dismissed the Yaksha's warnings and suffered. The questions posed to Yudhistira number over a hundred (listed in the Appendix) some of which sound like aphorisms. Therefore brevity of the questions as also the answers requires interpretation. A.V. Srinivasan has explained in detail. Apart from rendering the Sanskrit text, transliteration and translation, the commentary by the author will help readers to follow the dialogue. The queries seek responses on spiritual, ethical, moral values, etc.from Yudhistira. Oneof them is the oft quoted wisdom of the king that people fail to realize the certainty of their eath even when they are exposed to this inevitability. 'What is the right time for a shraaddha?' The answer: 'A learned Brahmin's time'. Rather than the day (tithi), the availability of a qualified purohit is decisive! Dharma is a complex concept that the author elaborates in one of the questions (page 57). Again, the meaning of 'egoism' as 'Total ignorance' is a riddle (page 60). Atheist, says Yudhistira, 'is said to be a fool'. Swamiji, it may be recalled, defined it as one who does not believe in himself. And so perhaps, a fool! A thought provoking answer of Yudhistira is that one's mother is 'weightier than the earth'--a truth to be remembered by all. Even in choosing boons offered by the Lord of Dharma disguised as Yaksha, Yudhistira reveals his fairness uninfluenced by emotions or attachments. The 'Epilogue' in the book gives details of the post question/answer session. Having lived abroad Srinivasan observes that the next generation should be exposed to ancient Indian wisdom. This small book should help in this endeavor. P.S. Sundaram for Vedanta Kesari, Chennai, Vol. 84, February 2016
