Example in this ebook CHAPTER I. The Divine Moloch. The genial gentleman with horns, shown on the cover hereof, is christ. The hybrid Christian-Egyptian religion was stolen from the sun-worship of Egypt and India and other religious impositions. When the sun, called Ra and Osiris in Egypt, identical with Jehovah, at the end of each cycle of about 2155 years, entered a new sign of the zodiac, it was said to be reborn, or the son of god came in a character to correspond with the astronomical sign.—Gerald Massey. Where in this book the words God, Lord, Christ, Messiah and Lamb are capitalized they refer to Christian deities, otherwise to pagan gods. When the sun entered the sign of Taurus, the bull, god was reborn, or christ came as the bull, called Apis in Egypt and Moloch in Syria. It is the latter beauty whose entrancing charms are the subject of this panegyric. When Jacob wrestled with the lord, the bout was with Moloch Iho, as will be seen by reading the original Hebrew text. This is lord I O, the supreme, the hermaphrodite god or idol of the pagans. Read the Blessing that the Hebrews say before eating: “Blessed art thou Io Elohanu Melech ... who bringeth forth bread from the earth.”—Krinsky’s First Lessons in Hebrew, 84. The pagans claimed that their god Moloch “had his castle of fire in the seventh heaven.” And “Jehovah had his castle of fire over the seventh heaven.”—Book of Enoch, 14:7. The identity of Moloch and the Hindu god Siva is indicated by the bull Nardi, the sacred emblem of the latter. The Persian bull christ, the son of Ormazd, killed by Ahriman, the Lord of Darkness, and all the other christs that sport horns must share the infamy of the great god Moloch, alias Saturn, alias Israel, alias Ilda Baoth or Devil. The heaven of Moloch is in the Northeast, and it is paved with gold, and his throne is made of lapis lazuli. You will notice that the priest is offering up a child to the great god who so loved human flesh and blood that he caused his own son to be slaughtered. There was also another reason for the human sacrifices by the priests and sorcerers and secret societies, that is, the desire to evoke the dead and summon up phantoms for consultation. These ghosts are very fond of blood, in fact it is difficult for them to materialize unless they can absorb the steam arising from human blood. It is true that some sorcerers have evoked the dead with the blood of kids or lambs, but the goat and lamb christs are ancient redeemers, whose efficacy is not to be compared with the man christ. Elephas Levi says that a phantom will attract the vapor of blood and human corpuscles in the air as a magnet attracts iron filings. “They have built the high places of Tophet in the Valley of Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire.” They made their children pass through the fire to Moloch, forsooth, because young children, like young pigs, are tender and easy to chew. They cooked their own flesh and blood on the reeking altar of the Devil, even as the great and good Ahaz served up his son for the delectation of the mob, and sitting down to the delicious feast, ate up the heir and hope of Israel. Then, chopping up the remnants into sausages, he exposed and hawked them in the market place, crying: “It is true they come high, but see what they are made of. Each sausage is stamped with the Tetragrammaton and stuffed with the royal house of Israel. If you plebeians, decorated with dirt and adorned with bugs, wish to get some blue blood into your clotted veins, now is the time. Avail yourselves of this opportunity to eat a prince of the royal blood, an imperial descendant of our Mother in Israel, Tamar, the daughter and wife of Judah and ancestor of David and the messiah.” To be continue in this ebook...

In the first chapter, the author examines the development of these various Pan images from classical through eighteenth-century literature. The rest of the book analyzes more fully the modern literary manifestations of the god: especially the Orphic Pan of the Romantic poets, the Plutarchan Pan of the Victorians, and the double cult of the benevolent and the sinister Pan from 1890 to 1914, when Pan was the most fashionable mythic motif for the minor writer. Some of the most intriguing versions of the theme are found in the benevolent Pan of fable (as in Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, or E M Forester's "The Story of a Panic"), and in the malevolent Pan of the horror story, from Arthur Machen to Faulkner. One chapter deals with the richest development of the Pan myth in modern times -D.H. Lawrence's use of the motif to express his own sense of the darkly irrational.

Urania Cabral, a New York lawyer, returns to the Dominican Republic after a lifelong self-imposed exile. Once she is back in her homeland, the elusive feeling of terror that has overshadowed her whole life suddenly takes shape. Urania's own story alternates with the powerful climax of dictator Rafael Trujillo's reign. In 1961, Trujillo's decadent inner circle (which includes Urania's soon-to-be disgraced father) enjoys the luxuries of privilege while the rest of the nation lives in fear and deprivation. As Trujillo clings to power, a plot to push the Dominican Republic into the future is being formed. But after the murder of its hated dictator, the Goat, is carried out, the Dominican Republic is plunged into the nightmare of a bloody and uncertain aftermath. Now, thirty years later, Urania reveals how her own family was fatally wounded by the forces of history. In The Feast of the Goat Mario Vargas Llosa eloquently explores the effects of power and violence on the lives of both the oppressors and those they victimized. ' The Feast of the Goat will stand out as the great emblematic novel of Latin America's twentieth century and removes One Hundred Years of Solitude of that title.' Times Literary Supplement

Following his wife’s tragic death, a rich man attempts to contact the god Pan, and his efforts yield spirited results in this classic occult novel. In her compelling way, Dion Fortune combines romance, suspense, and the search for truth and meaning in this psychological thriller that deals ultimately with the growth of consciousness and the path to self-knowledge. Wealthy, skeptical Hugh Paston, shocked by the death of his wife with her lover in a car crash, finds himself at a crossroads in his life. In search of a distraction, he wanders into the shop of an antiquarian bookseller who befriends him and sparks his interest in occult literature. Hugh is drawn to study the Eleusinian Mysteries and, determined to evoke Pan, the goat-foot god, he buys Monks Farm, a former monastery, long unused and sinking into ruin. With the aid of Mona Wilton, a young artist, Hugh refurbishes and revitalizes the property in preparation for the rites. In the ancient monastery, he is possessed by the spirit of a fifteenth-century prior, Ambrosius, who had been walled up in the cellar for practicing certain pagan rituals he had discovered in old Greek manuscripts in the monastery library—rituals dedicated to Pan.

In cultures throughout human history people have believed that some part of themselves continued to exist after they died. Part of that belief is that living can influence what happens to the dead in the afterlife, and the dead can return from the afterlife to affect the living. Death Gods: An Encyclopedia of the Rulers, Evil Spirits, and Geographies of the Dead describes the many ways the afterlife—especially that part of the afterlife commonly known as Hell—has been characterized in myths from around the world. The hundreds of entries provide readers with a guide to the afterlife as portrayed in these myths - its geography, its rulers, its inhabitants, how they got there, and what happens after their arrival. While the Devil is a prominent resident and ruler of the afterworld in many religions, especially Christianity, this book examines many other versions of Hell whether presided over by the Devil, Hades, or one of the many other rulers of the dead. Death Gods provides concise encyclopedic entries on all aspects of the mythology of the afterlife: The underworlds form the myths of cultures from across the globe—for example, Xibalba, the underworld of the Quiche Maya; Di Yu, the underground realm of the dead in Chinese mythology; the gods and demons of the afterlife—the Hindu god of death and justice Yama; Ahriman, the evil twin of the benevolent god Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrian mythology; Buso, the invisible ghouls who haunt graveyards and feed on human corpses in Philippine mythology. The volume includes an extensive bibliography of the most useful resources for understanding the mythology of death and the afterlife.
