The Value Of An Air Combat Maneuvering Range To The Tactical Air Command written by Joe A. Fitzgerald and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1974 with categories.

The author takes the position that the Tactical Air Command needs an instrumented range for training in air-to-air combat-Air Combat Maneuvering Range (ACMR) as early as possible, and makes a case for a coordinated plan of utilization for the Simulator for Air-to-Air Combat (SAAC) and an ACMR. It is asserted that the complimentary capabilities of the two systems can make important contributions to tactical fighter training, tactics development, and simulator development. (Author).

This report describes the development of an integrated analog display (turn rate vs calibrated airspeed) for use as a debriefing aid on the Air Combat Maneuvering Range (ACMR). The ACMR gathers in-flight data from aircraft while they are engaged in air combat maneuvering. Upon returning from the ACMR, aircrew are presented with (1) a pictorial display of the engagement, and (2) a digital printout of selected encounter parameters (e.g., velocity 'g', altitude of each aircraft, range between aircraft). The display integrates these relevant energy maneuverability data into an analog format, thus providing an immediate comparison of the performance of each aircraft with respect to the maneuvering envelope of that aircraft and that of the opponent. The display also allows the aircrew to recognize very rapidly whether they are gaining or loosing energy and the rate of gain or loss. The maneuvering envelopes of the F-14, F-4, A-4 and F- 5 aircraft can be displayed in this dynamic format. It is expected that this new format (1) will provide a better means for pilots to determine how well they have maximized the performance of their aircraft, and (2) may serve as an aid in tactics development. A brief discussion of the nature of energy maneuverability is contained in an Appendix. (Author).

This report presents the results of a computer-based wave refraction analysis which was executed in conjunction with the design of the four marine structures of the U.S. Navy East Coast Air Combat Maneuvering Range, located offshore at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The structures will consist of a three-pile jacket (template) with equalaterally-spaced legs through which steel piles are driven into the seabed. The goal of the wave refraction analysis was to determine if the topographic refraction effect on deep water waves propagating toward shore would produce anomalously high local wave conditions at the proposed tower construction sites. Keywords: Aplitude, Amplification, Orientation (Direction), Directional deviation, Charts.

This survey was performed to accurately establish the locations of the four Air Combat Maneuvering Range (ACMR) platforms constructed by Brown & Root, Inc. in the Atlantic Ocean offshore of Kitty Hawk, N.C. during the summer of 1977. Prior to performing the ACMR tower location survey onshore control points with sufficient elevation for the long shots to the offshore sites had to be located. It was found that the U.S.C. and G monuments Wright located atop the Wright Memorial Monument at elevation 144 ft. and Bodie Island Lighthouse at elevation 156 ft. met the criteria for elevation.

The two-volume document comprises the final technical report on the ACMR (Air Combat Maneuvering Range) System Simulation, and is submitted in compliance with Attachment 5, Contract N00019-71-C-0429. Volume 1 provides general, technical, and physical descriptions of the system simulation program, and Volume 2 consists primarily of computer output representing the results of the simulation. The simulation program described in this report has been developed to aid in the system performance analysis of the Air Combat Maneuvering Range tracking and display hardware which is presently undergoing development. Development Of A Computer Based Air Combat Maneuvering Range Debrief System written by and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1981 with categories.

Volume I of this Interim Report presents an overview of the technical approach to ACMR debrief development, and a preliminary debrief design based on key training objectives and their associated aircrew task measures. The requirements for a computer based debrief system are discussed, together with the rationale for selection of an HP 45-T system. Preliminary data formats for key training objectives are presented. Finally, ACMR debrief software packages which are currently under development are identified and described. The proposed debrief system is responsive to an operational requirement for both overall performance assessment and diagnostic appraisal. For this reason, we have chosen to call our debrief system the Performance Assessment and Appraisal System (PAAS). Future plans are outlined, and center chiefly on the development of a demonstration system for ACMR debrief. Further development of criterion measures across remaining training objectives will be necessary to complete a final debrief design such that it represents a full treatment of all aspect ACM performance evaluation.
