Dabei wird die Akzeptanz primär aus der Perspektive der Konsumierenden analysiert und eine Datengrundlage für weitere Forschungen und praxisnahe Entscheidungen in diesem Bereich geschaffen. Durch den Einsatz digitaler Zahlungssysteme und die Abhaltung von Veranstaltungen ohne der Verwendung von Bargeld lassen sich Effizienzgewinne im Ablauf erzielen, Kosten minimieren sowie die Sicherheit von veranstaltenden und teilnehmenden Personen steigern. Ziel ist die Analyse der subjektiven Haltung von Gästen zur Digitalisierung von Zahlungsvorgängen im Veranstaltungsbereich. Im Rahmen des Theorieteils werden veranstaltungsspezifische Begriffe sowie technische und sozialwissenschaftliche Grundlagen aus der Akzeptanzforschung anhand des verfügbaren Forschungsstandes erläutert. Es werden Closed-Loop- und Open-Loop-Zahlungssysteme detailliert vorgestellt und miteinander verglichen, jene zwei Systeme, die für den bargeldlosen Zahlungsverkehr auf Veranstaltungen eingesetzt werden. Konkret wird als zentrale Fragestellung mittels vergleichender Analysen die Akzeptanz von Veranstaltungsbesucher:innen gegenüber dieser beiden Zahlungssysteme gemessen, um eine Präferenz zu einem dieser festzustellen. Als empirische Forschungsmethode wird auf Basis etablierter Untersuchungsmodelle aus der Akzeptanzforschung ein Fragebogen für eine quantitative Befragung erstellt und per Onlineumfrage zur Datengewinnung eingesetzt. Anhand von Methoden deskriptiver Statistik erfolgt eine Auswertung und die Analyse der gewonnenen Daten.
