Si vamos a seguir adelante y a restablecer nuestra vida a ser un discípulo que es lo que el Padre tiene en mente para nosotros, tenemos que volver a la fuente original de toda la verdad para que como adultos, no como niños de pecho aún chupando la botella de un bebé llena de una fórmula religiosa, lleguemos ya a consumir el alimento sólido que siempre ha sido fijado en la mesa del Señor, como se señala en Hebreos 5:12: "Porque a pesar de que a estas alturas ya deberían estar enseñando a otros, en realidad ustedes necesitan a alguien para enseñarles otra vez los primeros principios de la Palabra de Dios. Habéis llegado a tener una necesidad de leche, y no alimento sólido." Por lo tanto, es tiempo de deshacerse de ese chupete religioso que ha puesto al cuerpo de Cristo en un sueño profundo, chupando nada más que palabras huecas que salen de los púlpitos y atriles, y conseguir el coraje de hacer la elección de volver al verdadero maestro y tutor, el Espíritu Santo. Seamos conscientes de que ya tenemos la habilidad y la perspicacia de reconocer la voz del Buen Pastor como Jesús nos dijo en Juan 10:27, "Las ovejas que son mías, oyen y están escuchando mi voz, y yo las conozco y ellas me siguen." ¿Suena esto como si vamos a oír y seguir a un papa, profeta, sacerdote o cualquier otra persona que quiere entrar a su billetera? Pero más importante, ¿resuena esto en su espíritu, conocimiento y mente? Si no lo es así, esto podría ser la razón por la cual el cuerpo de Cristo es corto en fe y de larga al fracaso y la falla, algunos no lo hacen, sino que rehúsan escuchar la voz del Pastor principal ignorando Romanos 10:17, donde Él nos exhorta: "Así que la fe viene por oír (lo que se cuenta), y lo que es oído viene por la predicación (del mensaje que proceden de los labios) de Cristo (el Mesías mismo)." Es lamentable que la mayoría prefieren ser llevados "como botín o te haces vos mismo cautivo de la llamada de la filosofía o el intelectualismo y falaces y vanas (ociosas fantasías y plena tonterías), siguiendo la tradición humana (las ideas de los hombres de lo material en lugar a la del mundo espiritual), solamente nociones crudas que siguen las enseñanzas rudimentarias y elementales del universo ignorando [las enseñanzas de] Cristo [el Mesías]" (Colosenses 2:08). Una vez más, ¿están estas escrituras diciéndonos que el mensaje de Cristo viene de la boca de un papa católico, un presidente mormón o de un ayatolá? Por supuesto que no, ya que la voz de Dios se escucha sólo a través de su Espíritu Santo, que es el vocero del Jesucristo mismo, punto final de la historia. ¿Por qué no puede el cuerpo de Cristo, discernir que su único deseo es hacernos crecer, captar Su visión y poner en práctica su método e instrucción de estudiar Su Palabra? Y en llegar ahí en fe, ponerla en acción para activar su poder en cada momento de nuestra vida, hasta el día que Él regrese.

This book aims to contribute to the transdisciplinary study of the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus in cities and to help policy makers adopt a more integrated approach to natural resources management in urban environments to face the challenges and threats of climate change. This approach is based on a multidimensional scientific framework that seeks to understand the complex and non-linear interrelationships and interdependencies between water-energy-food under climate change and to generate solutions to reduce trade-offs among development goals and generate co-benefits that help encourage sustainable development and contribute to the achievement of SDGs, mainly SDG 11 (make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable) and SDG 13 (take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts). Governing the WEF nexus in cities is one of the greatest resource challenges of our time, as cities consume large amounts of WEF, but one that can also generate relevant alternatives with which to tackle climate change. To help fostering these alternatives, this book analyzes the governance, institutional and political economy factors that determine the effectiveness of the nexus approach and reviews the potential, the benefits and the policy implications of the adoption of the WEF nexus approach at the urban level. Through a series of hands-on cases, chapters in this book present the opportunities of the WEF nexus approach to achieve innovation and transformative change and discuss concrete areas of synergy and policy initiative to raise urban resilience. With the world in a state of emergency due to the Coronavirus pandemic, almost the entire scientific community and all governmental/intergovernmental agencies are focused on defining the most effective disease control and forecasting. However, is disease control the only or most crucial element to consider? In this Research Topic, we intend to highlight crucially important topics about Coronavirus related to its environmental dependencies, biological diversity and stability, and socio-economic outcomes, considering also information, modeling and technological aspects of the pandemic. The objective of the Research Topic is to bring together spatio-temporal biological, ecological, environmental and social aspects of Coronavirus to better understand its dynamics, shifts, systemic impacts on health and socio-economic effects. Studies via models that link Coronavirus to other viruses are welcome, in order to properly characterize the biology, ecology and environmental niche or universality of Coronavirus dynamics. We also seek prospective studies that investigate potential future spillovers of Coronavirus-like viruses by indicating risk hotspots in relation to socio-environmental determinants. Other issues focused on public health and medical aspects are welcome; however, these studies need to explicitly address the virus’ connection with the environment in order to gain insight into its ecology and evolution. Studies addressing data and modeling challenges as well as different model approaches (from machine learning to phenomenological and process-based models) have a lot of interest. Lastly, we highly encourage studies that quantitatively explore the coupled evolution of population perceptions and the associated infodemic (for instance, inferred from social media), behavior and systemic health outcomes.

This book analyzes how COVID-19 impacted politics and how politics shaped the response to the pandemic in Latin America, the region which has become the epicenter of the global health crisis started in China. The volume brings together studies carried out in eight countries of the region – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua and Uruguay – and show how the impacts and outcomes varied a lot across the region depending on the political processes under way in each country in the years preceding the pandemic and on the political responses adopted by each government to deal with the health crisis. "It was mid-December 1610 in Mexico City. The Church was in its preparatory season of Advent, leading up to the celebration of Christ's birth at Christmas. The nuns of the Encarnacion convent had just celebrated the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, on 8 December. But now, in this time usually filled with joy, some of the nuns were nervous. Their choirbooks were missing. Without them, the nuns would not be able to celebrate the anniversary of Christ's birth adequately. A musician priest of the metropolitan cathedral, located just three blocks from the convent, had caused the nuns' alarm: Antonio Rodríguez Mata (d. 1643) had all five of the missing books. He had borrowed them from Sister Flor de Santa Clara, the convent "vicaria de coro" (choir vicar) but had failed to return them despite the convent's repeated requests. The diocesan vicar general and the attorney general were summoned. The nuns of the Encarnación demanded that Mata be imprisoned if he failed to return the books immediately following the denunciation. The threat of jail time was serious, but so too was the alleged offense: Mata was impeding the nuns from performing their liturgical music for Christmas"--

American creationists’ efforts to export their beliefs have succeeded in Europe beyond their own expectations, winning followers across creed and country. For decades, the creationist movement was primarily situated in the United States. Then, in the 1970s, American creationists found their ideas welcomed abroad, first in Australia and New Zealand, then in Korea, India, South Africa, Brazil, and elsewhere—including Europe, where creationism plays an expanding role in public debates about science policy and school curricula. In this, the first comprehensive history of creationism in Europe, leading historians, philosophers, and scientists narrate the rise of—and response to—scientific creationism, creation science, intelligent design, and organized antievolutionism in countries and religions throughout Europe. Providing a unique map of creationism in Europe, the authors chart the surprising history of creationist activities and strategies there.
