A compilation of short stories surrounding the battlefield of tennis. These stories could have been taken from any; locker room, dance competition, police academies even bingo or poker night. Any place people get together, and compete. Its about people in pressure situations, tales with in-depth observations through relationships with friend and foe. Some friendships lasted years, some just a season, or a single tournament. Grudges lasted decades. All have spectacular endings, some taking as much as ten years to wreak vengeance. When I say great endings, I dont mean all happy-endings but exciting, with twists like only true life can dish out. These observations will tickle the avid tennis player as well as anyone who deal with people in competitive situations. Battling the town, the league rival or your best friend All stories are true. Tennis etiquette and life morels to be learned and enjoyed. As you ponder the trials and tribulations of the characters, you get deeper insight into the author. Michael, are you sure this really happened? I did not approve any of it. Laurie (Wife and conscience) This is the most implausible, coincident ridden exhibit of maternalinstincts and corny sentimentalism, smacking just short of Bolshevism. ---- I Loved it! Anonymous A molotov cocktail of thoughts and utterances. Its like Vuja De` all over again. --- Cant wait to read more. -- Super Dave (Hero extraordinaire) Mike is a top-notch Athlete, Musician, Carpenter, Artist, Horse Wrangler, Kick boxer, and now a Writer... An authentic Renaissance Man --- ------ Michael Chwalek (Rocket Scientist) He was a gifted child, kind and honest, always seeing things differently than the other kids. Who knew he would turn out like this? Why couldnt you be more like your sister? .................................. (Mom) You dont have to be a tennis buff to be drawn into Mikes world. These are stories about people, who they are and what they do. They kept me turning the pages. The Myth Of Quetzalcoatl written by Alfredo López Austin and has been published by University Press of Colorado this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-07 with Social Science categories.

The Myth of Quetzalcoatl is a translation of Alfredo López Austin’s 1973 book Hombre-Dios: Religión y politica en el mundo náhuatl. Despite its pervasive and lasting influence on the study of Mesoamerican history, religion in general, and the Quetzalcoatl myth in particular, this work has not been available in English until now. The importance of Hombre-Dios and its status as a classic arise from its interdisciplinary approach, creative use of a wide range of source material, and unsurpassed treatment of its subject—the nature and content of religious beliefs and rituals among the native populations of Mesoamerica and the manner in which they fused with and helped sanctify political authority and rulership in both the pre- and post-conquest periods. Working from a wide variety of previously neglected documentary sources, incorporating myth, archaeology, and the ethnography of contemporary Native Americans including non-Nahua peoples, López Austin traces the figure of Quetzalcoatl as a “Man-God” from pre-conquest times, while Russ Davidson’s translator’s note, Davíd Carrasco's foreword, and López Austin’s introduction place the work within the context of modern scholarship. López Austin’s original work on Quetzalcoatl is a pivotal work in the field of anthropology, and this long-overdue English translation will be of significance to historians, anthropologists, linguists, and serious readers interested in Mesoamerica.

Rubble written by Gastón R. Gordillo and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-28 with Social Science categories.

At the foot of the Argentine Andes, bulldozers are destroying forests and homes to create soy fields in an area already strewn with rubble from previous waves of destruction and violence. Based on ethnographic research in this region where the mountains give way to the Gran Chaco lowlands, Gastón R. Gordillo shows how geographic space is inseparable from the material, historical, and affective ruptures embodied in debris. His exploration of the significance of rubble encompasses lost cities, derelict train stations, overgrown Jesuit missions and Spanish forts, stranded steamships, mass graves, and razed forests. Examining the effects of these and other forms of debris on the people living on nearby ranches and farms, and in towns, Gordillo emphasizes that for the rural poor, the rubble left in the wake of capitalist and imperialist endeavors is not romanticized ruin but the material manifestation of the violence and dislocation that created it.
