A love story with a difference based on two events that actually took place in different parts of the world. We begin with a flashback – a tourist talks to an ailing doctor about a nearby village. Fade to a young boy soldier, Peter, travelling to join his unit in France. He is German and the war is still going on. In his naivety he doesn’t yet know the nature of the work done by his future comrades. The unit is briefed by the boss - they are to lay low in a small village awaiting a possible push by the enemy. Peter meets one of the local girls and falls in love. He is chastised for getting involved by one of his colleagues. All goes well until the local mayor holds a dance to welcome the guests and some of the soldiers get out of hand and commit a drunken rape on a deaf and dumb waitress. She exacts her revenge by killing one of the officers. On the discovery of the body, the senior German officer calls all the villagers together in the church and threatens them that they must produce the offender but all enquiries are without success. Peter slowly begins to realise the nature of the unit’s duties. The senior officer decides that the offender has probably made his/her confession to the elderly priest and tries to persuade him to give up the secrets of the confessional but to no avail. When all else fails he allows one of his keener officers to sort out the priest who takes him from his prayers and performs a modern-day crucifixion. The priest hangs, barely alive, on his own cross, guarded by some of the soldiers. That night they fall asleep and the waitress climbs a ladder to give him food. In the morning the ladder is discovered and the soldiers reprimanded. The senior officer then has an idea - in order to loosen the tongues of the villagers he decides to bring about an enforced famine and instructs his staff to remove all the sources of food in the village. However things begin to go wrong, the fabric of society breaks down and in their hunger the villagers revert to their animal state. The final source of food is the wafers being used by the nuns in the Holy Communion and when the senior officer tries to stop this, the Mother Superior refuses and risks being shot. The senior officer is afraid that there’ll be trouble when headquarters find out but the keen officer whispers that they don’t have to find out if there are no witnesses. The starving villagers, including Peter’s girlfriend, are finally herded into the church and the hanging priest is given one final chance to divulge the offender. He refuses and boy soldier has a terrible choice – to kill or be killed. He tearfully chooses the latter. We come back to the present and the tourist learns that only one person survived the massacre so assumes that this must be the story-teller. He is surprised when the latter tells him that his name is “Peter” and that he was actually the one holding the gun.

No one actually knows what it feels like to be hurt unless they are being hurt. You have tried everything possible to make things work but you have a partner who doesn't notice or appreciate your efforts. Most times you feel lonely, not loved, disappointed and rejected. In the face of this entire emotional trauma, you kept holding on and believing that everything will be alright and the sparks of love will return back in your relationship, the way it was when you first met. You often get hurt knowing that you have tried your best; you have loved your partner just like any faithful lover would do. Your partners' silence and carelessness keep breaking and widening the gap between you both. At some point, you begin to feel less concerned and live your life as though your partner doesn't exist. No more constant calls, chat, attention and care. You both start communicating like strangers. As time goes on, you lose interest and your love gradually fades away. When you have a partner who doesn't appreciate the efforts and sacrifices you make just to protect your relationship. A partner who does not trust you but believe you are cheating, even when you are doing everything possible to please them and to let them know that there are no other persons in your life except them. You make sacrifices and when you expect appreciation it either results in fights or misunderstandings. Then you begin to ask yourself questions. You feel like you are not worthy or beautiful enough. You feel less, it gets bad to a point that you want to hear your partner say "thank you" or say a word of appreciation but to no avail. You finally give up and say to yourself, "that's the kind of person he is". You gave up the world's handsome and beautiful men and women respectively just to be with your partner. Yet they treat you lesser than you deserve. There are many people of the opposite sex who are much more handsome, beautiful, loving and caring than your partner whom are making advances to you but you choose to stick to your partner, yet they dare take you for granted. You love your partner so much that you are willing to do anything to make them happy yet; they would not appreciate and value you. Sometimes, you have sleepless night, cry all night and crave for your partner but he or she is never available for you. It affects you to the extent that you lost your sleep, and when you finally sleep, you wake up with headache, and excuse upon excuses is all you get. The greatest of it all is when they become emotionally and physically unavailable when you need them the most. Your partner put his or her job above you. When you try to confront them about how lonely you feel and how he or she is emotionally unavailable for you, your partner turns your word and everything against you and make you look bad and at fault. Your heart is heavy and filled up. You become helpless and do not know whom to talk to. I know, you have many reasons to quit and so many questions you wish could be answered. In fact, so great is its worth in the life of the people living in our world today that it seems like it is becoming one of the idolize things to them, that is defining their mood at every moment of the time, like their eating moment and their refraining moment from eating, their moment being happy and going out to caught fun with pals, and their moment of being solitary from all etc. In fact, so great has its influences become in the life of the people in our world today that even some people has really idolize in their life. Yes, this is very true. I once met a pal and also a PhD holder lecturer who once told me that one of the ways by which one can take to obtain success in this life is through the one learning to live a life of worrying and being anxious of life's process on daily basis. In fact, like an unsurmountable and unconquerable real monster to the human so also has this substance of things called worry and anxiety being in our world. For despite the great measure layout by many scholars around the world on how to eradicate its existence in the life of the people, all seems to be to no avail. From our environment to off our environment (the social media world) what we see and hear is of the hurtful effects this monster is creating in the life of the people on daily basis (many people in our world today live in depression, dejection, despondency of life, and some have committed suicide all because of them being worried and anxious of one thing or the other etc.) Howbeit, with an undisputability of its might over the humans because of the harbour its existence has created in their life, this monster of the world ought not to have an influence over the Christians. This is because Jesus Christ their mighty leader has proclaimed himself having preeminence over all things, both of physical and those of the spiritual through his resurrection from the death, and then sitting on a throne raised beyond every existing thrones under the heaven. Also, he has promised and also proclaimed giving this victory of his to all who believe on him (John1:12, Luke 10:19). But it is bizarre that despite this great Promises made by the Lord to his believers we still find that this monster of the world is still having preeminence over the believers as though they do not have a saviour to save them from it, there by making them to be of no differences between the people of the world and they who are called the children of God, for as the former so also is the latter (both control by this great monster who defines their mood of living life on daily basis). And this is making the word of the Lord to seem falsehood to his believers like he is just seeking to get followers from them. Howbeit, from his holy book (the Bible) it is affirmed that every word of his is true and there is no lie attached to it (Proverbs30:5), there by expressing that the proclamation of his to his believers of giving them victory over all things because they do believe on him isn't a falsehood statement to them for him to just get followers from them. The question then rises, why then does this monster of the world also having preeminence over the believers life if the Promises of the Lord to them isn't a falsehood proclamation, and how can it be overcome in their life? This is what this book is all about, to educate the Christians on how and why they should overcome the monster of the world called worry and anxiety in their life as they continue believing in the Lord. It is a one book I encourage every believer to get if they desire to enjoy their walk with the Lord.
