In the 1Eschm' lw the eyes are contiguous, and the wings are very broad and long. Very large insects are comprised in this family, and some of the tropical examples measure as much as eight inches across the wings, while in our own country several species exceed half this in expanse. There are three British genera. The distinguishingfeature of this genus consists in the anal angle of the posterior wings, which is rounded in both sexes. It contains one British representative. 2. FoRMosUs-(Linden).---1'his is the largest British and European species of dragonfly, measuring 34 lines in length, and 46 lines in expanse. Its head is azure, luteous beneath, the mouth fuscous, and the eyes green, yellow behind. The thorax is azure or greenish, the dorsal sutures blackish. The abdomen has the basal segment tumid, third attenuated, the first greenish, and the remainder pale...
