This brilliant little book tells the story of the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League from its origins in the 1940s to the present and the controversies over Julius Malema and his influence in contemporary youth politics. Glaser analyzes the ideology and tactics of its founders, some of whom (notably Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo) later became iconic figures in South African history as well as inspirational figures such as A. P. Mda (father of author Zakes Mda) and Anton Lembede. It shows how the early Youth League gave birth not only to the modern ANC but also to its rival, the Pan Africanist Congress. Dormant for many years, the Youth League reemerged in the transition era under the leadership of Peter Mokaba—infused with the tradition of the militant youth politics of the 1980s. This qualitative study was designed to explore the dropout phenomenon through marginalized adolescents' retrospective perceptions and experiences of care and belonging, power and privilege within the traditional high school environment. In addition, this study examined the role these constructs may or may not have played in the participants' decision to leave the traditional high school prior to graduation. Critical theory provided the theoretical perspective for this study with the intent to add to the depths of emancipatory knowledge within the fields of dropout research and marginalized youth. This study authorized student perspectives and presented authentic voice uncovered in qualitative data through individual interview sessions. Along with the extensive use of quotations, I used the poetic representation of data by writing found poems with the goal of building an emotional bridge between the reader and the participants. Findings indicate that marginalized adolescents' success at school may be related to experiences of care, belonging, power, and privilege. In addition, findings reveal that early school leaving may be an act of resistance to school ideologies and hegemonic structures.

Hitler was influnenced by American socialists - the USA's Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was the origin of Nazi salutes and Nazi behavior. 8. A socialist started fascism. Before he coined the term 'Fascist,' Mussolini was a long-time socialist leader, with a socialist background, raised by socialists to be a socialist. 9. German socialists partnered with Soviet socialists to launch WWII, invading Poland together, and going onward from there, killing millions.
