A majority of research in couple's therapy has a morbid focus on divorce rates. This leads us to identify what not to do in order to prevent a maladaptive relationship and fails to concentrate on what should be done to promote a positive relationship. The present study utilizes the 16 Personality Factor Couple's Counseling Report (16PF CCR) variables of overall Marital Satisfaction, Personality Similarity, and Relationship Adjustment to focus on factors related to adaptive relationships for females. Results demonstrated a positive significant relationship between overall Marital Satisfaction and four of the individual satisfaction areas. There was also a positive significant relationship between overall Marital Satisfaction and the personality variable Emotional Stability. Relationship Adjustment had a positive significant relationship with five personality variables. Overall Marital Satisfaction and Relationship Adjustment were significantly and positively correlated. Finally, it was found that relationship length and relationship status were significantly related to overall Marital Satisfaction. The limitations, implications, and arguments for further research of the current study are discussed.
