Este livro é um convite do autor para o leitor conhecer e entender o processo desenvolvimento humano de escolares ribeirinhos no distrito de Ilha de Santana/AP à luz da teoria bioecológica do desenvolvimento humano (BRONFENBRENNER, 2011) sob o olhar da Educação Física Escolar. Apresenta como os aspectos de um contexto cultural interagem com o sujeito modificando-o e ao mesmo tempo sendo modificado a partir do impacto da relação de fatores de interdependência para atributos pessoais do sujeito. Mostra, também, através de registros, as oportunidades proporcionadas pelos determinantes ambientais locais para o desenvolvimento motor das crianças e adolescentes, ajudando a trazer à tona fatores motivacionais que alimentam ou inibem a disposição dos escolares para a prática de determinadas atividades nas aulas de Educação Física. Como fruto de uma Dissertação de Mestrado, este livro pretende divulgar que, quando se busca promover uma educação física escolar preocupada com o desenvolvimento integral do sujeito, compreendê-lo inserido na complexa interação que faz com diversos contextos/ambientes possibilita perceber com mais amplidão o meio no qual se está interagindo. Deixa, também, a possibilidade para que mais profissionais da educação que atuam em outras áreas de conhecimento considerem a teoria bioecológica do desenvolvimento humano como importante contributo às suas práticas pedagógicas.

This book presents the method developed by Dr. Silvia Helena Koller and her students and collaborators to apply Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Bioecological Theory of Human Development to empirical studies with children and adolescents. Although Bronfenbrenner's theory, in different stages of development, has been widely cited by several researchers, surprisingly little has been written about the theory itself, its evolution or about the methods that should be used to test it. This book fills this gap by presenting both an overview of Bronfenbrenner’s theory and a method to apply it to empirical research, the Ecological Engagement method.
