Há quem afirme que a poesia nasceu junto com o advento da própria linguagem humana e que a humanidade teria se expressado primeiro poeticamente para só depois usar a linguagem para se comunicar e trocar informações. Sabe-se que a poesia (no início sempre acompanhada do canto) esteve presente nas formas de evocação do sagrado (nos ritos e nos cultos primitivos) e até mesmo nos trabalhos agrícolas, como forma de mitigar o cansaço proveniente do labor físico. A poesia já foi registro da formação cultural de um povo (lembremos, por exemplo, da reverência dos antigos gregos a Homero). Já foi elemento agregador de valores nacionais e também repúdio à ordem social. Já foi crítica mordaz aos costumes e jogo de obscenidades; expressão de sentimentos nobres e das angústias mais insondáveis. Já foi objeto decorativo, artefato de ourivesaria e já desceu do monte Parnaso para habitar o lodo e o limo. Desceu mais aquém, às órbitas do Inferno, onde encenou uma Comédia a que um poeta italiano chamou posteriormente de “Divina”. Essa mesma arte a que chamamos poesia já serviu à catequese de fiéis e também já flertou com Lúcifer. Isso a que chamamos poesia já serviu para acariciar os ouvidos burgueses com a retórica do belo nos salões, nos saraus, mas também já nos legou o cáustico discurso do hediondo, como no célebre verso “escarra nessa boca que te beija” do visceral poeta paraibano. A poesia já foi marginal, engajada, pretendeu não ser mais poesia, aboliu a metrificação, deu sentença de morte ao verso e já se propôs, até mesmo, a banir a própria palavra do poema. Já rejeitou falar das coisas e dos sentimentos para falar de si mesma e às vezes descambou para o silêncio da página em branco. Para uns, a poesia deve espelhar a alma de quem a escreveu. Estes buscam no poema a sinceridade do sentimento. Por outro lado, certa vez um poeta (que não foi apenas um, mas vários) disse que o poeta é, acima de tudo, um fingidor. A poesia já se uniu e já se divorciou de praticamente todas as artes numa fecundíssima promiscuidade. Para alguns, certos letristas de canções são poetas, para outros letra de música é uma coisa e poesia é outra. Até o caçula das artes, o cinema, andou em íntima relação com a poesia. Lembremos de um cineasta que em sua fase surrealista disse que o cinema deveria tornar-se poesia. O poema se faz com palavras e não com ideias, respondeu Mallarmé ao pintor Degas. E, por fim, já não surpreende, hoje, a declaração do antigo professor que disse que a matemática é, no fundo, pura poesia. Não nos enganemos: tudo já foi dito. Mas há formas diferentes de dizer do mesmo e também do tudo. “Já fiz de tudo com as palavras. Agora eu quero fazer de nada”, disse o velho poeta concreto e “quais são as palavras que nunca são ditas” lembra-nos o saudoso letrista (ou seria poeta?) do rock nacional. Nunca houve civilização sem poesia e toda cidade tem seus poetas. Nossa época, contudo, vive sob o signo da dispersão e os apreciadores da arte poética (leitores e escritores), bem como a Universidade, devem propor espaços de fomentação, novas ágoras que possibilitem encontros dessa natureza. Esse foi o intuito da terceira edição do SELUFMA cujos textos apresentados nos Simpósios temos a satisfação de registrar nesses Anais. Evoé a todos!!
