Les travaux pr sent s dans ce m moire s'appuient sur l'analyse de la qualit de l'air int rieur et l' valuation des expositions des occupants la pollution int rieure. A partir d'un code de simulation appropri et en consid rant trois types de d coupage spatial diff rents, nous avons qualifi l'impact sur la qualit de l'air int rieur des interactions polluants/parois, l'h t rog n it des concentrations ambiantes en fonction du syst me de ventilation/conditionnement d'air mis en place, de la nature et du positionnement des sources d' mission, et l'influence du zonage sur la pr diction des expositions des occupants. Les r sultats obtenus montrent que dans les configurations tudi es, les ph nom nes de diffusion et de sorption qui prennent place au sein des mat riaux constitutifs des parois contribuent modifier de mani re significative la distribution des concentrations dans l'ambiance et l'exposition calcul e des occupants. Un système de ventilation est efficace s'il assure un air intérieur de qualité en éliminant les polluants de l'air et en garantissant un apport d'air neuf satisfaisant. L'efficacité de la ventilation est analysée numériquement et/ou expérimentalement. Notre étude consiste à analyser l'efficacité de la ventilation en environnement réel contrairement à la majorité des travaux de recherches qui étudie ce concept dans des cellules d'essais où toutes les conditions limites thermoaérauliques sont imposées. Les mesures in situ réalisées sont en outre utilisées pour définir les conditions aux limites de domaines de calculs CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). La comparaison des résultats numériques aux mesures in situ a permis d'analyser l'utilisation des codes CFD pour l'étude de la qualité de l'air intérieur en environnement réel. On a ainsi noté l'influence de la prise en compte de la perméabilité sur la qualité des calculs numériques. Or dans un bâtiment réel, il est difficile d'identifier avec précision les défauts d'étanchéité et leurs débits d'infiltration d'air respectifs. Dans un tel cas, un modèle simplifié est proposé pour tenir compte de la perméabilité dans les calculs numériques. Nous avons ensuite réalisé une analyse critique des indices d'appréciation de l'efficacité de la ventilation. Nous avons ainsi montré qu'il était actuellement impossible d'évaluer l'efficacité de renouvellement de l'air ( ) d'une zone d'occupation. Concernant l'élimination de polluants, nous avons montré que l'indice usuel n'était pas adapté pour des systèmes ayant des débits de ventilation différents. Pour de tels cas, une nouvelle formulation de cet indice est proposée. On a également évalué le rapport du débit de ventilation utilisé par le débit nominal du système de ventilation étudié. Une analyse couplée de ce nouvel indice et de ce rapport de débits a permis d'apprécier l'efficacité d'élimination de polluants en tenant compte du coût énergétique de la ventilation. Pour finir, nous avons montré qu'il n'existe pas d'indice universel. Le choix de l'indice à utiliser dépend en effet de la nature du polluant, de sa concentration et du débit de ventilation employé. Un outil d'aide à la décision est donc proposé pour apprécier l'efficacité d'élimination de polluants des systèmes de ventilation. Cet outil est flexible et assez simple à utiliser.

L'exposition aux aérosols microbiologiques présents dans les environnements clos est susceptible de provoquer, chez les occupants, diverses pathologies telles que des infections, des toxi-infections et des allergies. Pour s'en prémunir, diverses stratégies passant notamment par l'emploi de dispositifs épurateurs d'air, ont été développées et commercialisées par les industriels de la ventilation et du traitement de l'air. Cependant, à ce jour, aucune méthodologie d'évaluation y compris normative ne permet d'évaluer la pertinence de ces stratégies. Ce travail de recherche se propose, d'une part, d'appréhender le devenir des aérosols microbiologiques au sein des espaces clos : de la source à l'individu exposé, en explorant le rôle de la ventilation dans ce transport et, d'autre part, d'explorer le gain apporté par les nouvelles technologies de traitement microbiologique de l'air sur l'exposition des occupants. Pour ce dernier point de l'étude, une démarche globale d'évaluation en 3 volets a été adoptée avec l'étude de l'efficacité du ou des principes d'épuration mis en oeuvre, la détermination du rendement intrinsèque en condition dynamique de ces systèmes et l'évaluation du gain apporté par ces derniers sur l'exposition des occupants. Les travaux menés avec les dispositifs épurateurs (filtration et photocatalyse) ont montré que les efficacités intrinsèques des systèmes ne permettent pas de préjuger de leur gain vis-à-vis du niveau de l'exposition des individus lorsqu'ils sont mis en oeuvre en environnement intérieur. Les résultats obtenus ont également mis en évidence que la prise en compte des flux aérauliques et du transport des particules induit par la ventilation et le dispositif épurateur est indispensable à la définition d'une stratégie cohérente de traitement d'air.
