Originándose en el tronco de las religiones abrahámicas, así denominadas por partir del patriarca hebreo Abraham, el cristianismo constituye la religión mayoritaria en el mundo, iniciándose en el Levante mediterráneo, en la primera mitad del siglo I de la era común, a partir de las enseñanzas de Jesús, un rabino apodado Cristo en griego, y considerado hijo del dios hebreo Jehová. Los textos sagrados del cristianismo están recopilados en la Biblia, un conjunto de libros escritos por la mano del hombre a lo largo de los siglos, pero que dentro del pensamiento cristiano se suponen inspirados directamente por dios, y que adoptaron su actual forma al principio de la era común. A su vez, la Biblia se divide en dos partes, el Antiguo Testamento, que incluye los textos sagrados del judaísmo, y el Nuevo Testamento, que recoge los textos puramente cristianos, y que conjuntamente constituyen la base del pensamiento cristiano; al margen de ellos se encuentra también un amplio abanico de textos religiosos judeocristianos, denominados apócrifos, que no se hallan incluidos en las Escrituras por considerarse carentes de inspiración divina, pero que sí influyeron sobre los autores de los textos canónicos. Y además de los textos, inspirados y apócrifos, gozan de especial relevancia y aceptación las elaboraciones y doctrinas teológicas formuladas por las diferentes sectas e Iglesias, entre las que destaca la católica, por ser la mayoritaria y también una de las más antiguas. De este conjunto de relatos, creencias y doctrinas emana un sistema de pensamiento integral, una cosmovisión desde la que interpretar el conjunto de la realidad: el marco teórico cristiano. El presente texto constituye el primer libro de la serie El martillo de dios, e incluye un análisis comparativo del totalitarismo y el cristianismo: partiendo de los orígenes y características de los primeros regímenes tradicionalmente considerados totalitarios, el fascismo italiano, el nazismo alemán, y el estalinismo, del enfoque literario plasmado por George Orwell en su novela distópica 1984, y de las aportaciones académicas de Hannah Arendt, Carl Friedrich y Zbigniew Brzezinski, se transpone los rasgos más relevantes de la teoría y praxis totalitaria al marco teórico y práctico cristiano a fin de identificar los paralelos, como son, 1) el control y la represión de pensamientos y sentimientos, incluyendo lo que Orwell denominaría crimental, o crimen de pensamiento, 2) la suplantación del juicio crítico con la ciega aceptación, la aclamación del líder a priori, la falta de cuestionamiento, la delegación del pensamiento y la entrega de la racionalidad y la voluntad, 3) el afán anti-intelectual, 4) la construcción de una alteridad reduccionista y excluyente, y, aunque no necesariamente totalitario, sí estrechamente vinculado al nazismo y al fascismo, 5) los orígenes cristianos del antisemitismo. El presente ensayo también aborda el estudio del relativismo, la postura filosófica opuesta a la absolutidad de atributos y proposiciones: constituyendo una de las principales tesis de la escuela de pensamiento sofista, atacada por Sócrates y condenada por la Iglesia católica, en este texto se demuestra la relatividad del dios bíblico en función de cada uno de los libros que componen el canon cristiano, pero también la existencia de una moral instintiva natural, refutando la pretensión cristiana de una moral binaria e inmutable, y cómo su oposición al relativismo no oculta sino la oposición a la tolerancia y al liberalismo; e identificando fenómenos de construcción de identidad vicaria y de expulsión de grupos internos disidentes, este artículo concluye que la implantación del cristianismo ha supuesto un freno en el desarrollo de las libertades, constituyendo, además, el sistema de represión más efectivo de la historia.
