And My Mother Danced with Chesty Puller is the story of a young Marines adventures during the Vietnam War, sometimes humorous, sometimes hair-raising. The story begins with a young man drawn into the Marine Corps to become an Embassy Marine but he ends up stuck with an office job instead. He struggles to get into the fight in Vietnam, only to be stationed in South Carolina and is offered a part-time job with a bootlegger to ride shotgun. When he finally arrives in Vietnam he discovers that he isnt supposed to be there, but in Okinawa instead, which turns out to be the land of booze and brothels. He was able to find a few girlfriends along the way, not only in South Carolina and Okinawa, but in Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Marines werent all in combat; many were in the rear with the beer. After volunteering three times for Vietnam he was able to transfer to Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron VMO-2, and fly as an Aerial Gunner in UH-1E Huey Helicopters. Finally, he became a Marine in combat.

When the Vietnam Veterans tours were over, they came home to find a country divided and a nation unappreciative of their service. How they were treated, how they integrated back into society, and how their wartime experiences changed them are just some of the questions answered, as their stories unfold in Never Forgotten. Told by the Veterans themselves, these are their stories. "The book Never Forgotten, captures 58 Veterans accounts and others on what it was like to experience the Vietnam War. In their own words, they talk about their return home, struggles to maintain healthy relationships, decades of recovery, and feelings of worthlessness. Many find emotional well-being and self-worth by helping other Veterans. Those of us who are Veterans or whose loved ones have served in war, know with certainty we are different when we return home, than before we marched off to war. Because of this difference, for ourselves and for those we love and enjoy having in our lives, Never Forgotten is a must read." ~ Michael B. Christy, Lt. Col. USA (ret) and Vietnam Veteran

Featured on the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Reading List and the Chief of Naval Operation’s “Naval Power” Reading List The Marine Corps is known for its heroes, and Lieutenant General Lewis B. Puller has long been considered the greatest of them all. His assignments and activities covered an extraordinary spectrum of warfare. Puller mastered small unit guerrilla warfare as a lieutenant in Haiti in the 1920s, and at the end of his career commanded a division in Korea. In between, he chased Sandino in Nicaragua and fought at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, and Peleliu. With his bulldog face, barrel chest (which earned him the nickname Chesty), gruff voice, and common touch, Puller became—and has remained—the epitome of the Marine combat officer. At times Puller's actions have been called into question—at Peleliu, for instance, where, against a heavily fortified position, he lost more than half of his regiment. And then there is the saga of his son, who followed in Chesty's footsteps as a Marine officer only to suffer horrible wounds in Vietnam (his book, Fortunate Son, won the Pulitzer Prize). Jon Hoffman has been given special access to Puller's personal papers as well as his personnel record. The result will unquestionably stand as the last word about Chesty Puller.

Nobody completely escapes the effects of Viet Nam?ǪThere was more than one enemy in Viet Nam. There was Charlie, who wanted to punch your helicopter full of holes with his AK-47 and bring you and the aircraft crashing down to the ground, down to your death. There was your own malfunctioning equipment, like the faulty flare that went off inside your helicopter, knocking you out and almost sending your whole aircraft and its crew to a fiery death.EMPTY TUBES AND BACK SEAT MEMORIES is the fascinating and true tale of Russ Warriners year and a half tour in Viet Nam serving as Crew Chief and Door Gunner on an M3 Rocket System equiped Huey in the U.S. Army Aerial Rocket Artillery (ARA).It is a fascinating chronicle of the day by day activity of a young soldier who comes from a conventional life in a small town in Massachusetts, but who wants to serve his country and ends up doing so and being awarded a Purple Heart, more than a dozen Air Medals, and three Army Commendation medals for his heroism in battle. It is a story of unconventional life in a controversial war.As Russ Warriner says: The permanent physical injuries from this war will always be apparent, but Russ shows us in his vivid narrative way the mental injuries can go unnoticed for years. These injuries are better know as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Sharon Osbourne Extreme written by Sharon Osbourne and has been published by Grand Central Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-10-11 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Sharon Osbourne reveals the truth behind the headlines in her characteristically frank, intimate and articulate memoir-from her childhood as the daughter of Don Arden, to managing and marrying Ozzy Osbourne, to her rising fame on shows such as The Osbournes and The X Factor. A devoted wife and mother, businesswoman, TV star and award-winning producer, Sharon Osbourne has, in her own words, "lived fifty lives in fifty years". Her childhood with her father, the notorious rock manager Don Arden, was an unruly mix of glamour and violence. In her late 20s, Sharon finally made the painful decision to break with her family. Always irrepressible, Sharon flourished, creating a loving family of her own while becoming a legendary manager and rock band promoter. In rock star Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon found her soul mate, yet Ozzy's drug and drink-fueled excesses-which culminated in his attempt to strangle her-made their marriage a white-knuckle ride from the start. Only her devotion to their three children gave her the will to survive. From the tremendous highs of the hit show The Osbournes to the devastating lows of Ozzy's near-fatal quad-bike accident and her own bout with colon cancer, Sharon's tenacity, honesty, and humor have triumphed again and again.
