In Ricoeur on Moral Religion, James Carter argues that Paul Ricoeur's later philosophical writings provide a highly instructive interpretive key with which to assess his philosophical project as a whole. This first systematic study of the "later Ricoeur" offers a critical yet sympathetic reconstruction of Ricoeur's hermeneutics of ethical life, which demonstrates his significant contribution to contemporary philosophy of religion and moral philosophy. Der Mensch ist der göttlichen Botschaft nach, die Krone bzw. Krönung der Schöpfung, ja sogar „Sachwalter Allaahs“ auf Erden. Allaah schuf den Körper des Menschen in schönster Gestalt, und gab ihm die Nafs. Daraufhin warfen sich alle Engel bis auf einen vor Adam (Mensch) nieder. Dies sind Botschaften aus dem dem Quraan. Schon in diesen zwei kurzen Sätzen erkennen wir den hohen Rang des Menschen unter allen anderen Geschöpfen. Der Mensch wurde vom Schöpfer erwählt, damit er die Erde verwaltet. Der Mensch hat die Last angenommen, das den Himmeln, der Erde und den Bergen angeboten wurde. Alles erschreckte davor, doch der Mensch nahm es auf sich.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Ethik, Note: 1,3, Universität Münster (Katholische Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Proseminar: Theologie und Sport, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit werde mich näher mit der Frage beschäftigen, ob Sport ethische Impulse setzen kann oder sogar eine eigene Ethik besitzt. Dabei werde ich weitere Quellen analysieren, um zunächst einen kurzen Überblick über die gesellschaftliche Relevanz des Sports über die Epochen zu geben. Hier soll der Grundstein dafür gelegt werden, ob dem Sport allein durch seine geschichtliche Rezeption ein ethisches Moment zuteilwird. Dazu werde ich die Begriffe Sport und Ethik analysieren und eine Antwort darauf finden, ob Sport ethische, wenn nicht sogar religiöse Impulse setzen kann. Aufgrund seiner gesellschaftlichen Relevanz will ich mich außerdem kritisch mit den Gefahrenquellen einer Sportethik auseinandersetzen, die zwar Vorbildcharakter haben kann, dadurch aber selbst Leitlinien setzen muss. Der Sport, der solch enormen gesellschaftlichen Auswüchse bekommen hat, muss sich an seinen Menschen orientieren, weshalb ich genauer auf das Menschenbild und die Menschenwürde eingehen will, um sie in den Kontext Sportethik bzw. Leistungsport zu stellen. Die daraus entstehenden Herausforderungen und Probleme will ich dann mit einer Kooperation mit der Kirche und kirchlichen Institutionen gegenüberstellen und Maßstäbe setzen, inwieweit Sport und seine Ethik auch für die Kirche und seine Strukturen relevant sind und weshalb Religion aber auch die katholische Kirche sich den Aufgaben des Sports stellen sollte. Im Proseminar „Theologie und Sport“ haben wir uns mit verschiedenen Bezügen des Sports in der Gesellschaft beschäftigt. Dabei haben wir zunächst erörtert, inwiefern der Sport unter ethischen Maßstäben zu treiben ist und wie weitreichend seine ethische Dimension ist. Hierauf haben wir uns mit einem Vergleich von Fußball und Religion beschäftigt und soziologisch und religiös erarbeitet, ob Fußball eine Ersatzreligion sei bzw. sein kann. Des Weiteren haben wir festgestellt, dass unter festgelegten Prämissen Sport und Ethik zusammen das christliche Menschenbild beinhalten, wenn auch nicht ausfüllen können. Dass der Sport jedoch bereits in der Antike relevant für das Christentum war haben wir schließlich durch die Erwähnung des Sporttreibens in der Bibel exponiert, um daraufhin eine kurze Aussicht auf das Thema Sport z.B. im Religionsunterricht herzuleiten.
