Por que las sociedades se dejan seducir una y otra vez por los demagogicos discursos de los populistas y caen en manos de las tiranias, cuando se sabe que las dictaduras sacrifican el desarrollo y las libertades elementales del hombre? Este es, tal vez, el dilema mas importante que enfrenta la sociologia contemporanea, y que la presente obra explica de forma esencial, logica y contundente. Es un grave error seguir pensando que las dictaduras surgen cuando aumenta la corrupcion en los paises democraticos, porque al hacerlo indirectamente enviamos dos mensajes negativos, incorrectos y peligrosos: "Las democracias son corruptas" y "La solucion inevitable es la dictadura." Las estadisticas demuestran que en las dictaduras existe tanta o mayor corrupcion e injusticias que en las democracias, solo que la represion de la prensa y de las personas bajo los sistemas autoritarios impiden con mas eficacia que se conozcan los "escandalos de palacio." Si, contrariamente a lo que muchos creen, no fuesen la corrupcion ni las desigualdades sociales las principales responsables del surgimiento de las dictaduras, cuales serian las verdaderas causas? A traves de un dialogo revelador entre dos estudiantes, este libro nos ofrece la respuesta de este y de muchos otros interrogantes clave. Pero es evidente que las mentiras y la arrogancia de los poderosos, aún subsisten, con sus desmanes, arbitrariedades y avaricia del poder del dinero, aplicando las mas sofisticadas y exquisitas practicas de la corrupción, para someter a sus pueblos, disfrazándolas de: "Democráticas", en detrimento de las clases menos favorecidas o desposeídas, distorsionando la realidad con discursos altisonantes, que poco les falta para que suenen como los pronunciados por: Fidel Castro: "Patria o Muerte", en la famosa Declaración de Santiago de Cuba: Las Farc: "Todo por la Patria o Muerte"; juramento de la nefasta guerrilla, o la más siniestra de todas: "Combatid hasta morir el último hombre": Adolfo Hitler. La sugerencia del mensaje global del libro es la de: "Reflexionemos", después de todo, aún está en nuestras manos: "nadar en la dirección correcta", las historias humanas, de gente normal, que el autor entremezcla en las situaciones cruentas de los relatos, así lo demuestran. Sueña con que, ojalá estos relatos contribuyeran a sacar de su error a los equivocados de hoy en día, en nuestra maltratada España.
