ANTONIO FIORE, nato a Segni nel 1938, è considerato dalla critica specialistica l'erede dei futuristi dell'ultima generazione. Non si considera però un epigono del movimento marinettiano, bensí un continuatore dello spirito futurista, lo stesso che gli trasmisero direttamente alcuni protagonisti dell'ultimo Futurismo con i quali ebbe rapporti intensi e fecondi. Fu infatti Sante Monachesi nel 1978 ad indirizzarlo verso la ricerca post futurista facendolo aderire al Movimento AGRA' che aveva fondato nel 1962, battezzandolo futuristicamente UFAGRA' (Universo Fiore AGRA'). Conobbe anche Francesco Cangiullo, famoso poeta parolibero futurista, che gli trasmise suggestioni per i contenuti delle opere della prima stagione. Con Elica e Luce Balla, le figlie del Maestro del Futurismo, il pittore di Segni e la sua famiglia hanno vissuto una lunga, cordiale e feconda amicizia tessuta anche fra i ricordi entusiasmanti della vicenda futurista del padre. Infine, ha avuto rapporti con Mino Delle Site e Osvaldo Peruzzi, futuristi dell'ultima generazione e, soprattutto, con Enzo Benedetto, futurista anche lui che con la Dichiarazione Futurismo Oggi del 1967 sancí la continuità ideale del Futurismo. A Fiore Benedetto lasciò idealmente il testimone della continuità dell'ideale marinettiano. Questi contatti con i futuristi sono documentati per la prima volta dalle pagine inedite di memorie scritte molti anni fa dalla moglie dell'artista, Maria Pia. Il curatore di questo catalogo, pubblicato in occasione della grande mostra antologica dell'artista al CERP – Centro Espositivo Rocca Paolina di Perugia, Massimo Duranti, pur non negando i debiti di Fiore verso il Futurismo, tende ad affrancarlo dall'etichetta di post futurista. La cosmopittura del pittore segnino ritiene che sia infatti un preciso linguaggio evolutivo di un'idea che esplora spazi siderei non conosciuti dove immagina colori e forme fiammeggianti che fluttuano magmaticamente nel vuoto. Questo volume pubblica una inedita cronologia dell'artista, una ricca antologia della critica e tutte le opere in mostra.

La cosmopittura del pittore segnino viene in tale occasione ridefinita come un preciso linguaggio evolutivo di un'idea che esplora spazi siderei non conosciuti, dove l'artista immagina colori e forme fiammeggianti che fluttuano magmaticamente nel vuoto. “....Antonio Fiore è un erede genuino del Futurismo. Egli col suo ribollente lessico cosmico, che in passato mi ha fatto pensare all'universo di Gordon Flash, ha rielaborato la compenetrazione, la simultaneità e le linee-forza del dinamismo futurista, con spremiture del Balla interventista. Ogni sua opera è una sorta di sinfonia delle componenti lessicali del Futurismo storico, aggiornato dalle gaie “note” affidate al pentagramma del suo prorompente estro metamorfico. Con tali “note” ha creato magmatiche musiche visive, fluttuanti ed esplosive, costantemente direzionate verso l'alto, talora oggettivando la sua propensione all'horror vacui in opere sagomate, talaltra spingendosi ad accogliere addirittura sagome metalliche di astronavi”. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti: The Artist and His Politics explores the politics of the leader of the Futurist art movement. Emerging in Italy in 1909, Futurism sought to propel Italy into the modern world, and is famously known for outlandish claims to want to destroy museums and libraries in order to speed this transition. Futurism, however, also had a much darker political side. It glorified war as the solution to many of Italy’s ills, and was closely tied to the Fascist Regime. In this book, Ialongo focuses on Marinetti as the chief determinant of Futurist politics and explores how a seemingly revolutionary art movement, at one point having some support among revolutionary left-wing movements in Italy, could eventually become so intimately tied to the repressive Fascist regime. Ialongo traces Marinetti’s politics from before the foundation of Futurism, through the Great War, and then throughout the twenty-year Fascist dictatorship, using a wide range of published and unpublished sources. Futurist politics are presented within the wider context of developments in Italy and Europe, and Ialongo further highlights how Marinetti’s political choices influenced the art of his movement.
