Les « années 1968 » se caractérisent par une forte résurgence des nationalismes minoritaires, des régionalismes protestataires et des aspirations autochtones dans le monde occidental – de la Bretagne au Québec en passant par la Catalogne, le Pays de Galles, l’Australie et la Nouvelle-Zélande. Cet ouvrage passe en revue des cas parmi les plus représentatifs ainsi que des exemples moins connus, s’attardant à la chronologie, aux causes et aux conséquences du renouveau nationaliste de la période. Cette collection d’essais s’inscrit dans un horizon international et les cas abordés permettent, à partir du particulier, d’éclairer la dynamique globale à l’œuvre. Plusieurs hypothèses y sont avancées. Les profonds changements socioculturels provoqués par les Trente Glorieuses obligent les groupes sociaux et les individus à réinterroger leur environnement dès lors qu’ils quittent la reproduction de l’existant. De plus, l’influence interne des luttes décolonisatrices et anti-impérialistes fragilise l’État-nation et offre un nouveau répertoire discursif. Enfin, l’impact cognitif des luttes sociales des années 1960-1970 autour de la « nouvelle gauche » et de l’esprit contestataire, symbolisé par l’année 1968, prépare la voie à une transformation idéologique sans précédent. Ce livre propose une analyse historiographique des « années 1968 » dans toutes leurs dimensions (politique, socio-économique, culturelle), en même temps qu’une réflexion théorique et sociologique sur la dynamique et la coloration des revendications nationalistes et régionalistes. Voici la première étude comparative d’envergure internationale à jeter un éclairage sur la simultanéité de ces résurgences revendicatrices à caractère nationalitaire. Publié en français.

A private and distant Sardinia animates the texts of this double correspondence, between archaic landscapes and personal and literary mythologies, in which Ferrara, the town of the authors' youthful years, is occasionally mentioned, with its richness of life, magazines (Bottai's «Primato», «Corriere Padano» with Bassani...), evening meetings in taverns or rented rooms, walks along the Rampari river, and the use of playful nicknames which would continue even after youth ended. A world made of concrete things, animated and enlivened by strong intellectual curiosities and passions, emerges from the letters reconstructing the life and history of Giuseppe Dessí, Mario Pinna and Claudio Varese, which have been carefully transcribed and annotated by Costanza Chimirri. The correspondence opens with the years spent in Ferrara - after Pisa, a crucial moment for their education - and allows the author to reconstruct atmospheres and environments, readings and work, offering a significant cross-section of twentieth-century Italy from within. The letters are never disconnected from one another, but rather united by the continuous call to the triple friendship in the name of Giuseppe Dessí, who is always present in the others' speeches even when he is not actually mentioned. The correspondence also allowed to bring to light unpublished texts by the most secluded member of the group (Mario Pinna, an avid reader of the classics, Spanish specialist, author of poems in the dialect of Logudoro and of short stories set in Sardinia), to strengthen the role that has always been played by the eldest, Claudio Varese, the maître-camarade; and to confirm once again how much Dessí's creative universe, deeply marked by the biographical element, has continued to develop and feed under the wise and affectionate gaze of fraternal friends, in an exchange which can give life to an actual collective imagination.

On July 29, 1681, a band of English buccaneers that had been terrorizing Spanish possessions on the west coast of the Americas captured a Spanish ship, from which they obtained a derrotero, or book of charts and sailing directions. When they arrived back in England, the Spanish ambassador demanded that the buccaneers be brought to trial. The derrotero was ordered to be brought to King Charles II, who apparently appreciated its great intelligence value. The buccaneers were acquitted, to the chagrin of the king of Spain, who had the English ambassador expelled from the court at Madrid on a seemingly trumped-up charge. The derrotero was subsequently translated, and one of the buccaneers, Basil Ringrose, added a text to the compilation and information to the Spanish charts. The resulting atlas, consisting of 106 pages of charts and 106 pages of text, is published in full for the first time in this volume. Covering the coast from California to Tierra del Fuego, the Galapagos, and Juan Fernandes, Basil Ringrose's south sea waggoner is a rich source of geographical information, with observations on navigational, physical, biological, and cultural features as well as on ethnography, customs, and folklore. After almost exactly three hundred years, this secret atlas is now made available to libraries and individuals. The editors have provided an extensive introduction on historical, geographical, and navigational aspects of the atlas, as well as annotations to the charts and text, and they have plotted the coverage of the charts on modern map bases.
