This Journal publishes current original research on religious studies and Islamic studies using an interdisciplinary perspective, especially within Islamic Theology (Ushuluddin) studies and its related teachings resources: Religious studies, Islamic thought, Islamic philosophy, Quranic studies, Hadith studies, and Islamic mysticism. WAWASAN: Jurnal Ilmiah Agama dan Sosial Budaya published at first Vol. 1, No. 1, 2016 biannually in January and July. However, since Vol. 2 No. 1, 2017, the journal’s publication schedule changed biannually in June and December. Reviewers will review any submitted paper. Review process employs a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

Konsekuensi konversi IAIN Mataram menjadi UIN Mataram -sesuai dengan namanya universitas dari kata univers yang berarti jagad raya, artinya, UIN Mataram- dituntut menjadi miniatur alam semesta (horizon) yang di dalamnya membicarakan segala aspek alam dan kehidupannya secara holistic. Berupaya menyelaraskan landasan filososfis bagi fakultas dan program studi yang berada didalamnya, tadinya hanya berfokus pada tekstual agama pada ulūmu al-dīn (usuluddin, syari’ah, tarbiyah, adab dan da’wah) kemudian dituntut memiliki fakultas umum yang identik kontektekstual seminsal Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi, Fakultas Kedokteran, Fakultas Psikologi, Fakultas Pertanian dan Peternakan dan fakultas umum lainnya. Merespon dinamika tersebut UIN Mataram harus mampu mengawal perkembangan keilmuan dengan identitas Keislamannya agar tidak terlepas dari sumber pokok yaitu Al-Qur’an yaitu menetapkan Al-Qur’an sebagai mata kuliah Universitas yang menyebar disemua jurusan baik keagamaan mauapun non-keagamaan. Mata Kuliah Al-Qur’an diharapkan menjadi paradigma “Wahyu Memandu Ilmu”. Disini posisi Al-Qur’an tidak saja terkait dengan nilai kesucian (sakralitas-teks), tetapi juga nilai keduniawian (profanitas-konteks). Kajian Al-Qur’an sejatinya menyeimbangkan di antara kedua hal tersebut agar lebih kritis dan objektif sebagai upaya totalitas integrasi yang merubah paradigma dari teosentris menuju teo-antroposentris yang mengimplementasi semangat rahmatan lil’alamin. Dengan paradigma ini Al-Qur’an menjadi sentral relasi pada relasi realitas teologi/ketuahan, realitas kealaman dan realitas kemanusiaan secara menyatu. Yang terealisasi melalui metodologi min al-nāsh ila al-wāqi’ (gerakan dari teks menuju realitas) ataupun min al-wāqi` ila al-nāsh (dari realitas menuju teks). Sebagai respons terhadap kesan diatas maka disusun buku referensi yang berjudul “KULIAH AL-QUR’AN: Kajian Al-Qur’an Dalam Teks Dan Konteks”. Buku ini menyajikan Al-Qur’an seputar teksnya dan menyajikan Al-Qur’an secara konteks yang mengekspresikan praktik dan pemahaman atas ajaran Al-Qur’an. Terdapat sebelas bab dalam buku referensi ini. This book presents an anthropological study of the Qur'an, offering an unprecedented challenge to some of the epistemological and metaphysical assumptions of the tawḥīdic discourses. Combining primary textual materials and anthropological analysis, this book examines transcendence as a core principle of the Qur'an, uniquely signified in the divine name al-Quddūs (the Holy). It shows how the tawḥīdic representations of Allah constitute an inversion of this attribute; examines how this inversion has been conceived, authorized, and maintained; and demonstrates how it has affected Islamic thinking and practices, especially as relates to authority. This book also explores how a return to the Qur'anic primacy of God's otherness as al-Quddūs can influence Islamic thinking and practices moving forward. Therefore, it will be highly useful to scholars of Islamic Studies, philosophical theology, Qur'anic studies, political science, ethics, anthropology, and religious studies.
