A antropologia da educação é, em parte, uma antropologia construtivista. Isso não significa que ela não pretende, em suas pesquisas e reflexões, ser capaz de compreender o ser humano; pelo contrário, ela sabe que sua concepção de homem depende de condições particulares, tais como os dados históricos e culturais, que não podem ser compreendidas senão como construção. Na medida em que os sistemas dedutivo-normativos da produção do saber antropológico da educação são superados, é necessário desenvolver uma antropologia histórica e cultural da educação que se elabora em um movimento construtivista e reflexivo. Nessa perspectiva, este livro aborda os seguintes critérios, que caracterizam a antropologia da educação; a corporalidade, a estética, a historicidade, a pluralidade, a culturalidade, a interculturalidade, a multi e as transdisciplinaridade, a crítica e a reflexibilidade. No que concerne ao conteúdo, os problemas internos às ciências sociais revelam o quanto a pesquisa antropológica é indispensável para o saber educacional.
