The richness and diversity of poetic voices in France since the mid-twentieth century sharpen the challenge of charting the poetic landscape in ways that are accessible and cohesive. Since poetry in France has long demonstrated a predisposition to philosophical questions. Palimpsests of the Real in Recent French Poetry reads the work of six poets through the lens of the Pre-Socratics. The poets discussed range from the well-known – Jacques Dupin, André du Bouchet, Eugène Guillevic – to the lesser celebrated – Jean-Louis Chrétien, Céline Zins, and Emmanuel Hocquard. What binds these six together is an interest in the real, and a fascination with the ways of sensing one’s world, of experiencing time, unity, memory, and change. For each poet, the aesthetic character of the work takes precedence, and its presentation is informed by the philosophical groundwork laid by ancient thinkers. Written not only for specialists but also for students and all readers with a general interest in literature and poetry, this book provides introductory material to each poet considered as well as offers critical readings that never stray far from the poetic texts.

La Question Du Lieu En Po Sie written by Christine Dupouy and has been published by Rodopi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with French poetry categories.

Contemporary French Poetics finds its origin in part in the International Colloquium on French and Francophone Literature in the 1990’s held at Dalhousie University in September 1998. A certain number of the papers given at that time, and since reworked in some fair measure, take their place here alongside other studies subsequently invited. In all they form a broad and varyingly focused set of cogent and pertinent appraisals of very recent French, and to some degree francophone, poetic practice and its shifting, becoming conceptual underpinnings. Studies offered range from those devoted to the work of established contemporary figures such as Bonnefoy and Du Bouchet, Stétié and Deguy, Noël and Chedid to discussions of younger generation writing by poets as diverse as Pinson and Leclair, Bancquart and Emaz, Maulpoix and Després, Morency and Zins. All center, however, upon work essentially produced over the last ten years.

Postwar Figures Of L Ephemere written by James Petterson and has been published by Bucknell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Literary Criticism categories.

The question of the relationship between aesthetics and history is reconsidered in this study of these postwar poets. Petterson argues that postwar French poetry is a critical poetry encompassing a vast poetic tradition from poets such as Baudelaire and Rimbaud to Francis Ponge and Paul Celan. The author also shows how the critical writings of Hegel, Heidegger, and Ricoeur (among others) suggest that what he calls postwar poetry's will-to-meaning and its attempt to develop a post-Romantic poetics necessarily questions poetry's ties to philosophical, historical, and political narratives.

From Rodin To Giacometti written by and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-06 with Literary Criticism categories.

This book is a collection of papers delivered at an international conference in September 1996 at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art during a major Giacometti retrospective. The contributors are leading curators, art historians and literature specialists. While the relationship between nineteenth- and twentieth-century painters and writers has been the subject of intense interest in recent years, the parallel relationship between sculptors and writers has been largely neglected. These essays seek to redress the balance by looking at a variety of ways in which the conventional barriers between writing and sculpting were broken down by such pioneering figures as Rodin, Degas, Bourdelle, Valéry, Apollinaire, Reverdy, Breton, Bataille, Arp, Picasso and Giacometti. Among the topics discussed are: the many personal and professional contacts, dual artistic talent, 'Ecrits d'artistes', ekphrasis, sculpture as object, the sculptorly representation of the poet, the poetic representation of the sculptor, sculpture as metaphor, proprioception and mental images. Fully illustrated throughout, this book offers new perspectives on familiar masterpieces like Rodin's Gates of Hell, but also opens up less well known subjects like Valéry's sculpture and Breton's Object-Poems. Above all it makes a provocative and original contribution to Word and Image studies.
