Whether social, cultural, or individual, the act of imagination always derives from a pre-existing context. For example, we can conjure an alien's scream from previously heard wildlife recordings or mentally rehearse a piece of music while waiting for a train. This process is no less true for the role of imagination in sonic events and artifacts. Many existing works on sonic imagination tend to discuss musical imagination through terms like compositional creativity or performance technique. In this two-volume Handbook, contributors shift the focus of imagination away from the visual by addressing the topic of sonic imagination and expanding the field beyond musical compositional creativity and performance technique into other aural arenas where the imagination holds similar power. Improvvisamente, seri eventi e decisioni indilazionabili si impongono al nostro riflessivo diplomatico, da tempo in servizio in un disastrato paese del terzo mondo. Si innesca un thriller con contorni politico-economici fra i due paesi, intrecciati con un romanzo d’amore ai limiti del pericolo. Lo scenario si allarga progressivamente a personaggi sempre più numerosi e diversi in un quadro composito di problematiche di tutti i tempi: la povertà e il superfluo, la giustizia e altre questioni morali, il terrorismo e la repressione, il sottosviluppo e il progresso, la visione politica e il meschino egoismo, la ricerca di Dio come di sé stessi. Su tutte fa premio la sempiterna domanda “che fare?”, preceduta dalla vexata quaestio dell’esistenza del libero arbitrio. Gli attori sono infine indotti a scegliere in un crescendo di tensione con un finale a effetto, mentre l’opera ambisce a dare risposte, oltre a uno spaccato della vita diplomatica, nel suo percorso sentimentale, psicologico, filosofico, politico e religioso. Un romanzo dunque di ampia ricerca, seria ma anche faceta, sul senso da dare alla vita, fatta di bilanci dal nostalgico passato e aspirazioni da concretizzare, fra riflessione e azione, fra monologhi e dialoghi ricorrenti, fra Oriente e Occidente, fra il senso tragico della vita e l’ilarità di situazioni buffe e personaggi risibili. Giunto alla fine della storia pur lunga, il lettore potrebbe volerne effettuare una nuova lettura. Gli autori, Ennio e Gianna, preferendo usare i loro pseudonimi, hanno designato quale loro referente per “ICARIA, IKARIA” il loro consulente diplomatico, Angelo Persiani. Questi è stato Ambasciatore nel 2003-2008 in Uzbekistan e Tagikistan e infine in Svezia dal 2010 al 2012. Nel corso della carriera ha anche prestato servizio in Norvegia, Cina, Finlandia, Brasile, Ginevra (Disarmo). Al Ministero degli Esteri ha fra l’altro seguito i rapporti politici con i paesi occidentali e con l’Africa sub-Sahariana. Laureato in Giurisprudenza, Scienze Politiche e Filosofia, ha pubblicato ricerche universitarie in criminologia, sul sistema penale svedese, e in sociologia, sul “Mito della Svezia quale capitale del suicidio”. Di suo egli ha pubblicato nel 2015 il racconto e saggio filosofico “Atarassia - Pirrone”.

Un antico mito conosciuto col nome di “leggenda dell’antico regno”, racconta la storia della caduta dal cosmo di un corpo celeste, un asteroide, che si divise in sette frammenti prima di toccare il suolo terrestre. Secondo quell’ancestrale leggenda tramandata nel regno di Belisaver, luogo dove avvenne lo schianto, da ognuna di quelle parti del misterioso oggetto spaziale infuocato nacquero altrettanti regni. Tali regni vennero definiti nascosti, in quanto rimasti in qualche modo sospesi fra il tempo e lo spazio. Successivamente i maghi appartenenti a due ordini contrapposti rimasero gli unici depositari dell’antico sapere riguardante i regni nascosti, sino a quando il mago Esperil decano dell’ordine magico di Goraz non viene convocato dal vecchio sovrano di Belisaver re Zorev III presso il suo castello ad Enselit, la capitale del regno. Il re, spalleggiato dal suo fidato consigliere, è molto allarmato per via di alcuni strani accadimenti verificatisi di recente a Belisaver. Grazie al prezioso aiuto di Esperil scopriranno come sia imminente un’invasione da parte delle truppe del regno di tenebra di Riondord, il più pericoloso tra tutti quei reami nascosti che fino a quel momento erano sembrati appartenere soltanto ad un mito che cominciava ad essere oramai un po’ sbiadito. Improvvisamente la guerra sembra incombere su Belisaver in maniera inaspettatamente repentina, costringendo il saggio Esperil ad andare subito in cerca del suo discepolo prediletto Kabel. I due, insieme al buffo ma leale Almoluk, saranno costretti ad intraprendere un lungo e pericoloso viaggio attraverso tutti i leggendari regni nascosti nel tentativo di riunificare i sette scettri, custoditi dai regnanti di ognuno di essi, prima che ci riescano le forze nemiche. La partenza per il regno nascosto di luce di Riolais, prima tappa del loro viaggio, dovrà essere tuttavia anticipata da una dura prova, denominata “danza delle virtù”, alla quale il giovane e valoroso Kabel dovrà necessariamente sottoporsi. Tale rituale si rivelerà potenzialmente mortale ma al tempo stesso indispensabile per aprire la sua mente a nuove conoscenze e prepararlo alla missione quanto soprattutto al proprio destino, già scritto forse nelle stelle. Frank Fisher nasce a Genova nel 1978, diplomato in ragioneria, da sempre amante delle arti. Musicista per hobby ma soprattutto appassionato scrittore, autore di una saga fantasy sviluppata in più volumi e di un romanzo di fantascienza intitolato “l'uomo senza pensieri” pubblicato nel 2018, oltre ad altri racconti che spaziano attraverso vari generi, dal fantascientifico all'horror. Amante della filosofia, dell'astronomia ed in generale di tutto ciò che può solleticare, stimolare curiosità e mettere in moto il cervello.
