Este texto es el resultado del dictado de varios cursos sobre estadística de no equilibrio, procesos estocásticos, ecuaciones diferenciales estocásticas, difusión anómala y desorden. El público al que va dirigido incluye estudiantes de Física, Química, Matemáticas, Ciencias en general e Ingeniería de nivel universitario. Se considera que los lectores cuentan con la base de matemáticas y elementos de física de cuarto año de una carrera superior. Los conceptos físicos y matemáticos poco conocidos se desarrollan en apartados y ejercicios especiales a lo largo de todo el texto, como así también en apéndices. Los primeros tres capítulos constituyen el núcleo de un curso sobre variables aleatorias, procesos estocásticos y su relación con las ecuaciones diferenciales estocásticas. Los capítulos 4 y 5 finalizan el curso de estadística de no equilibrio, con el análisis de la irreversibilidad en el contexto de la ecuación de Fokker-Planck y la teoría de respuesta lineal. También se puede diseñar a partir del texto, un curso de introducción al estudio de la difusión anómala en medios desordenados o amorfos, y su relación con el cálculo de los coeficientes de transporte en el contexto de la teoría de respuesta lineal, cuyo estudio puede ser independiente de los primeros capítulos. Para tal curso, los tres últimos capítulos del libro dan una presentación detallada del problema de la difusión anómala. En particular, el último capítulo está dedicado a la presentación microscópica de la fórmula de Kubo para el cálculo de la conductibilidad eléctrica.
