Two exhibitions that propose a dialogue from diverse perspectives around art, archaeology and the human body. The exhibition "Amerindian Bodies: Art and culture of the corporal modifications" curated by archaeologist Uribe explores the cultural, social and symbolic richness of the corporal interventions amongst the Pre-Columbian societies of Colombia. The interventions in skin, muscles, bone, hair, denture and nails, far from being superfluous, are vital in the construction of the social identity of the people. The exhibition follows the beauty ideals, religious rituals, economic activities, mythology and healing sickness capabilities as practiced in different Indian societies. The exhibition "Habeas Corpus: may you have [a] body [to exhibit]" is a collaborative curatorship between historian Jaime Borja and artist José Alejandro Restrepo. In their museographic script they define the human body as a "cultural experience and history container" and establish a dialogue of the fascination shared by the baroque and contemporary cultures on the human body alternating baroque artwork from Nueva Granada, contemporary art expressions and scientific illustrations.

In this amusing and brilliantly conceived book, Michael Sims introduces you to your body. Moving from head to toe, Sims blends cultural history with evolutionary theory to produce a wonderfully original narrative in which he analyzes the visible parts of the body. In this fascinating brew of science and storytelling, readers encounter not only accessible explanations of the mechanics of their anatomy, but also the layers of mythology, religious lore, history, Darwinian theory, and popular culture that have helped to shape our understanding of any given body part. A titillating and unique book, Adam’s Navel is learned and entertaining, a marvelous lens through which to study the form we all inhabit—but may not really understand.

This book presents the state of the art for the studies of strategies and tactics for the procurement of preys in Argentina in different regions and chronologies (from the end of the Pleistocene until historic moments). The chapters are related to the performance of these practices in hunter-gatherer, shepherd and farmer societies. From the environmental point of view, they show cases in diverse areas such as plains, mountains, forests, sea coast, steppes and puna. Likewise, the range of preys considered includes ungulates (camelids and deer), runner birds (Rhea pennata) and minor prey (mammals and fish). The book is aimed at professionals and students of archaeology interested in the analysis of tactics and strategies for prey capture. Every chapter offers an important contribution in theoretical, methodological and technical terms. In addition, these works possess a high comparative value on study cases of very different chronologies and environments of the Southern hemisphere. This book is a result of the 1st Workshop "Strategies and tactics in order to obtain preys in the past: its discussion from the integration of different lines of evidence" which was conducted in San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina, between the 8th and 10th of August, 2018.
