Los diarios de Rafael Chirbes: un documento imprescindible para comprender los entresijos de un gran escritor. Poco después del fallecimiento de Rafael Chirbes en 2015 apareció un primer libro póstumo indispensable: la novela Paris-Austerlitz. Ahora, seis años después de su muerte, el lector tiene en las manos sus diarios, que el autor revisó y preparó para su publicación. Son anotaciones recogidas en diversos cuadernos que cubren el periodo que va desde 1985 hasta 2005, es decir, desde sus inicios como escritor, antes de publicar su primera novela –Mimoun, finalista del Premio Herralde en 1988–, hasta poco antes de su ya inapelable consagración internacional con Crematorio. Estos diarios son el autorretrato sin máscaras de un ser humano –sus dudas, flaquezas, miedos, enfermedades, enterezas, ambiciones, anhelos– y una sucesión de opiniones y vivencias relacionadas con la política, el sexo, la música, el cine y la literatura; reflexiones sobre lo que Chirbes amaba o detestaba, siempre de forma apasionada. Pero también ofrecen un privilegiado acercamiento a lo que podríamos llamar la cocina del escritor: Chirbes anota sus análisis –lúcidos y contundentes– sobre libros ajenos (entre ellos, unos diarios: los de Musil) y deja constancia de los entresijos de la creación de su propia obra, las dudas, las búsquedas estilísticas, su modo de mirar y retratar la realidad...
