Der Autor analysiert die theoretische und empirische Preisbeziehung zwischen fixen Aktienindexterminkontrakten auf den gleichen Kontraktgegenstand (DAX) mit unterschiedlicher Fälligkeit. Die Untersuchung dieser Beziehung ist von der empirischen Kapitalmarktforschung bislang mit Hinweis auf die geringen Umsätze im Kontrakt mit der längeren Restlaufzeit nicht vorgenommen worden.Für das Verständnis einer solchen Analyse muß auch der Kontraktgegenstand selbst und seine Preisbeziehung zum fixen Terminkontrakt dargestellt werden. Einführend wird hierzu ein historischer Abriß über den deutschen fixen Aktienterminhandel vor 1945 gewählt, da hierdurch die Vor- und Nachteile der heute üblichen Indexkonstruktionen bei der Kontraktgestaltung deutlich werden. Anschließend erfolgt die Darstellung der Handelsorganisation der DTB (heute EUREX) und die Berechnungsmethodik des DAX.Die Preisbeziehungen zwischen DAX und FDAX, bzw. FDAXT1 und FDAXT2 werden auf Grundlage des Cost of Carry Modells hergeleitet, gleichzeitig erfolgt eine Darstellung der bisherigen Ergebnisse der empirischen Forschung. Im empirischen Teil der Arbeit untersucht Kai Neumann die Preisbeziehung zwischen FDAXT1 und FDAXT2 für den Zeitraum März 1992 bis Dezember 1997 und testet die Gültigkeit des Cost of Carry Modells anhand von ausnutzbaren Arbitragemöglichkeiten (unter Berücksichtigung von Transaktionskosten, Wertpapierleihe und Ertragsbesteuerung). Dabei werden die theoretisch abgeleiteten Preisgrenzen außerhalb der Dividendensaison bestätigt, das Cost of Carry Modell hat Gültigkeit. Während der Dividendensaison können die empirisch ermittelte Preisbeziehung und die erhöhten Umsätze mit einem auf asymmetrischen Steuersätzen beruhenden Arbitragevorteil zweier Transaktionspartner (Differenzarbitrageur / Ausgleichsarbitrageur) begründet werden.
