L’Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica presenta una collezione di oltre cento opere grafiche di architetti contemporanei (matrici incise all’acquaforte, stampe, bozzetti), quale frutto della seconda edizione del progetto Architettura Incisa. Sostenuto dalla Direzione Generale per il Paesaggio, le Belle Arti, l’Architettura e l’Arte contemporanee del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, il progetto, attraverso incontri scientifici, laboratori e mostra, riprende e attualizza antiche modalità di presentazione dell’architettura, sull’esempio dei grandi architetti-incisori del Settecento presenti nelle collezioni dell’Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica. Agli architetti dell’era globale e del disegno informatico viene proposto un impegnativo percorso a ritroso, attraverso tecniche antiche e procedimenti rituali che impongono il recupero della manualità e del gesto che traccia il segno: sulla carta, poi sul rame, inciso all’acquaforte e a punta secca. Ma la difficoltà è sfida. Essa consiste in un confronto con se stessi, con la propria volontà espressiva mediata dalla materia e dallo strumento tecnico dell’incisione (Guido Strazza). Ideato e curato da Sandra Suatoni, Direttore della Stamperia dell’Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica, il progetto è pensato per più edizioni ed è rivolto ad architetti di fama internazionale ma anche a studenti delle Facoltà di Architettura. Nell’edizione attuale, assieme ai rinomati Carlo Aymonino, Alessandro Anselmi, Santiago Calatrava, Massimiliano Fuksas, Franco Purini ed altri, compaiono professori universitari e allievi della Facoltà di Architettura e dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Reggio Calabria. Nei laboratori di progettazione e incisione a Reggio Calabria, docenti e studenti hanno lavorato fianco a fianco sul tema dei Paesaggi frontali, ispirati alla dimensione reale e mitica del territorio calabrese; in un clima di fervore creativo e di scambio di esperienze, hanno condiviso questioni tecniche, pratiche e teoriche dell’arte incisoria, apprezzandone le possibilità espressive e conseguendo significativi risultati. Nella storica Stamperia dell’Istituto romano, alle spalle della Fontana di Trevi, si sono avvicendati i laboratori degli architetti affermati, con il coinvolgimento ampio dei maestri calcografi, ai quali si deve la stampa di tutte le matrici esposte nella mostra di Palazzo Poli. Obiettivo essenziale del progetto non è sancire l’assimilazione dei prodotti grafici degli architetti con quelli artistici, quanto perseguire situazioni di ricerca disciplinare consone all’architettura, nel recupero della plurisecolare tradizione italiana che assegna al disegno il ruolo di fulcro teorico e pratico delle arti visive. Le matrici incise e le stampe donate dagli autori vanno ad arricchire la collezione permanente dell’Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica.
