Theatre of the Borderlands: Conflict, Violence, and Healing is an enlightening and encompassing study that focuses on how dramatists from the Northern Mexico border territories write about theater. The plays analyzed in this study are representative of the most important Northern Border playwrights whose plays’ themes present the US-Mexico Borderlands in a socio-historical and political context. Si a esto agregamos que necesariamente hay que hacer una clasificación para presentar estos escritos y estas imágenes al lector y al observador, de tal manera que comprenda por qué fueron organizados de esa forma, implica no solo riesgos, sino quizás inconformismos y diferencias por parte de los colaboradores de este proyecto. En Asaltos al escenario Priscilla Meléndez explora el modo en que la dramaturga mexicana Sabina Berman se enfrenta con la historia de su país y teatraliza sus crisis sociales y políticas mediante el humor, el género y la historia. Este estudio se enfoca en uno de los aspectos más impactantes de la producción escénica de la escritora mexicana: su capacidad de crear mundos dramáticos en donde la representación de lo humorístico coexiste y a la vez choca con lo sublime y serio, revelando simultáneamente el placer y el dolor que permean la realidad histórico-social de un individuo o de un país, y de la propia ficción teatral.
