O livro Argentina e o Brasil frente aos Estados Unidos (2003 – 2015): entre a autonomia e a subordinação aborda as relações entre a potência global e a América do Sul durante o período da ascensão de governos progressistas na região, tendo como foco as relações bilaterais com o Brasil e com a Argentina. A autora argumenta que, durante o período destacado, a potência buscou manter sua influência regional, apesar do desafio representado pela assertividade dos países sul-americanos e pelas crescentes influências chinesa e russa na região. Na obra, é defendido o argumento de que a retomada dos projetos de autonomia foi provocada pelas mudanças nas coalizões politicamente predominantes na Argentina e no Brasil e pelas mudanças no cenário internacional, com o aumento da atuação chinesa na América do Sul. Assim, não houve negligência dos EUA e, apesar dos desafios impostos pela China, a potência hegemônica manteve a capacidade de impor custos e incentivos aos governos latino-americanos. A cooperação no campo da segurança, incluindo as relações entre os militares e os agentes de segurança pública, permaneceu como um sustentáculo importante da influência estadunidense. Refletir sobre o período em pauta é de grande relevância, especialmente no momento contemporâneo, no qual há uma reversão do processo, com o aprofundamento da subserviência do Brasil aos Estados Unidos. Entender como governos anteriores buscaram se contrapor à potência, quais as possibilidades e limites de resistência, e como o processo foi revertido é essencial para pensar o futuro e as alternativas existentes para o Brasil e para a América do Sul na esfera internacional.

Globalization and Competition explains why some middle-income countries, principally those in Asia, grow fast while others are not successful. The author criticizes both old-style developmentalism and the economics of the Washington Consensus. He argues instead for a "new developmentalism" or third approach that builds on a national development strategy. This approach differs from the neoliberal strategy that rich nations propose to emerging economies principally on macroeconomic grounds. Developing countries face a key obstacle to growth, namely, the tendency to overvaluate foreign exchange. Instead of neutralizing it, the policy that rich countries promote mistakenly seeks growth through foreign savings, which causes additional appreciation of the national currency and often results in financial crises rather than genuine investment.
