This book" Art Crossing" is the first issue. What is the basic idea of Art Crossing? Since 1980, the word "Postmodern" has been used extensively in various fields, and it indicated "Relativization of value" and "End of a big story" in the unstable and fluid society. A few decades have passed since then, and it seems like Postmodern has already been fully consumed, but our society still seems unstable and fluid. However, thinking about it calmly, I would like to ask if the society has ever been stable. In the first place, art, nature and humans are both fluid and uncertain. Therefore, if we wish for open society and open art, we may have no other option but to focus on the world of dynamic impermanence, rather than wishing for static coexistence with the nature and the world. The 1st Issue"Art Crossing" featured Ichi Ikeda. Ichi Ikeda is generally said to be an Earth Artist, but has developed a worldwide art project on the global environment and water and gained a high reputation both nationally and internationally. Especially in the 21st Bienal Internacional de Artes de Sao Paulo in 1991, he, as a special invited artist, became the first Japanese to be in charge of the main stage (For your information, the person who was in charge of the main stage of the previous year was Joseph Beuys). In 1995, he was selected as "the world's 12 artists," for the 50th anniversary art calendar of the United Nations. In May 2008, he was selected as a representative of the East / Southeast Asia and Oceania area at the environment seminar held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and made a proposal from Earth Art. Authors: Ichi Ikeda, Tetsuya Miyata, Koji Kawai, Junko Imamura, Akira Aida, Lali Luleroh, Toshiaki komori, Megumi Saito, Seiko Kitayama, Masafumi Oda, Takeo Suetomi

Writings On Art And Literature written by Sigmund Freud and has been published by Stanford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Art categories.

Despite Freud's enormous influence on twentieth-century interpretations of the humanities, there has never before been in English a complete collection of his writings on art and literature. These fourteen essays cover the entire range of his work on these subjects, in chronological order beginning with his first published analysis of a work of literature, the 1907 "Delusion and Dreams in Jensen's Gradiva" and concluding with the 1940 posthumous publication of "Medusa's Head." Many of the essays included in this collection have been crucial in contemporary literary and art criticism and theory. Among the subjects Freud engages are Shakespeare's Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, King Lear, and Macbeth, Goethe's Dichtung und Wahrheit, Michelangelo's Moses, E. T. A. Hoffman's "The Sand Man," Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov, fairy tales, the effect of and the meaning of beauty, mythology, and the games of aestheticization. All texts are drawn from The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud, edited by James Strachey. The volume includes the notes prepared for that edition by the editor. In addition to the writings on Jensen's Gradiva and Medusa, the essays are: "Psychopathic Characters on the Stage," "The Antithetical Meaning of Primal Words," "The Occurrence in Dreams of Material from Fairy Tales," "The Theme of the Three Caskets," "The Moses of Michelangelo," "Some Character Types Met with in Psycho-analytic Work," "On Transience," "A Mythological Parallel to a Visual Obsession," "A Childhood Recollection from Dichtung und Wahrheit," "The Uncanny," "Dostoevsky and Parricide," and "The Goethe Prize."

Crossing Over written by Stephen Jay Gould and has been published by Three Rivers Press (CA) this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Science categories.

Crossing Over, the latest of three collaborations between scholar Stephen Jay Gould and artist Rosamond Wolff Purcell, brings together thought-provoking essays and uncannily beautiful photographs to disprove the popular notion that art and science exist in an antagonistic relationship. The essays and photographs collected here present art and science in conversation, rather than in opposition. As Gould writes in his preface, although the two disciplines may usually communicate in different dialects, when juxtaposed they strikingly reflect upon and enhance one another. Working together, Purcell's photographs and Gould's scientific musings speak to us about ourselves and our world in a hybrid language richer than either could command on its own. In an essay on individuality, for instance, Gould looks through the lens of evolutionary theory to address the controversial issue of cloning and the often misguided fears it evokes. As a society that exalts the concept of the individual, Gould argues, we sometimes fail to recognize that clones walk among us. Identical twins represent "the greatest of all challenges to our concept of individuality." Rosamond Purcell's photograph depicting the famous Siamese conjoined twins Eng and Chang conveys an eerie feeling that cannot be captured in words. Through its unique combination of words and photographs, Crossing Over prompts us to ponder not only the basis of the false dichotomy between art and science, but also the distinction of mind and nature, and of all humanly imposed categories of order. Gould and Purcell's work convinces the reader that a provocative interplay between art and science is not only possible, but inevitable and necessaryas well.

Whether working in urban areas with high levels of cultural diversity, providing art therapy to 'unique' populations such as prisoners or asylums seekers, or introducing art therapy programs to parts of the world in which it is not yet established, it is essential that therapists understand the importance of practicing in a culturally sensitive manner. This comprehensive book considers how culture impacts the practice of art therapy in a variety of settings. With contributions from experienced art therapists who have worked in diverse environments, this book attempts to understand and highlight the specific cultural, subcultural and ethnic influences that inform art therapy treatment. It addresses variable factors including setting, population, environment and ability, and how they influence art therapy approaches. It also considers how cultural differences can impact physical art making through choices of color, symbol and metaphor. Each chapter provides a framework showing how art therapy techniques have been used in order to successfully work with distinct populations. This book will provide practitioners with ideas for how to adapt art therapy training and approaches to suit the setting and meet the needs of a vast range of populations. Full of informative case studies, this book will be invaluable reading for art therapists and students of art therapy.
