To mark the centenary of the birth of Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona 1923-2012), the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Fundació Tàpies in Barcelona organised a conference entitled ‘Art and Spirituality’. This is the same title as the lecture that Tàpies gave at the UPF when he was awarded an honorary degree in 1988. It is with that lecture that we open the issue of Engramma that we present here, which bears the same title as this monograph dedicated to the Catalan artist. The issue contains contributions by Juan Eduardo Cirlot, Giulio Carlo Argan, Salvador Dalí - published in the years between 1955 and 1962 when Tàpies introduced Informal Art in Barcelona. We also publish some of the papers given at the 2012 conference: Emily Braun, Alfonso Alegre Heitzmann, Javier Melloni, Martine Heredia, Jordi Garcés). In addition, other significant contributions by Giorgio Pasqualotto, Daniel Esparza, Eduard Cairol, Enrique Granell, Juan José Lahuerta and Lourdes Cirlot. A section of the issue is reserved for the Sala de Reflexió at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, conceived by Tàpies as a space for meditation (as stated in the text by Tàpies himself that we republish here). The images of the Sala Tàpies that we publish in this issue are accompanied by texts by Jordi Garcés and Javier Melloni. Finally, two contributions by the Catalan artist Perejaume, who installed his work Fer voltejar una creu in the Sala de Reflexió during the 2012 conference. As a "Homage to Antoni Tàpies" we publish here the verses that Jean-Luc Nancy dedicated to Antoni Tàpies in his contribution to the conference at the Tàpies Foundation in 2012.

Bridging the fields of conservation, art history, and museum curating, this volume contains the principal papers from an international symposium titled "Historical Painting Techniques, Materials, and Studio Practice" at the University of Leiden in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from June 26 to 29, 1995. The symposium—designed for art historians, conservators, conservation scientists, and museum curators worldwide—was organized by the Department of Art History at the University of Leiden and the Art History Department of the Central Research Laboratory for Objects of Art and Science in Amsterdam. Twenty-five contributors representing museums and conservation institutions throughout the world provide recent research on historical painting techniques, including wall painting and polychrome sculpture. Topics cover the latest art historical research and scientific analyses of original techniques and materials, as well as historical sources, such as medieval treatises and descriptions of painting techniques in historical literature. Chapters include the painting methods of Rembrandt and Vermeer, Dutch 17th-century landscape painting, wall paintings in English churches, Chinese paintings on paper and canvas, and Tibetan thangkas. Color plates and black-and-white photographs illustrate works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

Futurist Women broadens current debates on Futurism and literary studies by demonstrating the expanding global impact of women Futurist artists and writers in the period succeeding the First World War. This study initially focuses on the local: the making of the self in the work by the women who were affiliated with the journal L'Italia futurista during World War I in Florence. But then it broadens its field of inquiry to the global. It compares the achievements of these women with those of key precursors and followers. It also conceives these women's work as an ongoing dialogue with contemporary political and scientific trends in Europe and North America, especially first wave feminism, eugenics, naturism and esotericism. Finally, it examines the vital importance and repercussions of these women's ideas in current debates on gender and the posthuman condition. This ground-breaking study will prove invaluable for all scholars and upper-level students of modern European literature, Futurism, and gender studies.

Five Albanian Villages written by Antonio Laurìa and has been published by Firenze University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-27 with Architecture categories.

This book is the result of a research project designed and carried out at the Department of Architecture, University of Florence. This research was based on the transfer of knowledge from members of the Albanian Diaspora in Italy (university students, young architects and researchers) to their home country. This unique process blazed a trail in the Albania-related studies by creating a methodology, which could be replicated not only in Albanian rural contexts, but also elsewhere. The book constitutes a structured tool for generating sustainable and socially inclusive territorial development processes in five lesser-known Albanian cultural sites. Their tangible and intangible cultural heritage was seen as a driving factor for triggering development processes aimed at improving the inhabitants’ quality of life and strengthening local identity and social networks. Through concrete proposals and strategies, the book offers scenarios and solutions capable of enhancing the potential of each village and, at the same time, counteracting the effects of land abandonment that so often characterise them.

This collection is the final volume of a four book survey of the state of phenomenology fifty years after the death of Edmund Husserl. Its publication represents a landmark in the comprehensive treatment of contemporary phenomenology in all its vastness and richness. The diversity of the issues raised here is dazzling, but the main themes of Husserl's thought are all either explicitly treated, or else they underlie the ingenious approaches found here. Time, historicity, intentionality, eidos, meaning, possibility/reality, and teleology are the main concerns of this collection devoted to studies in aesthetics, metaphysics and literary interpretation, written by such authors as, among others, R. Cobb-Stevens, C. Moreno Marquez, J. Swiecimski, Sitansu Ray and M. Kronegger. These original studies of phenomenological aesthetics and literary theory by scholars from all parts of the world were gathered by the World Institute for Advanced Phenomenological Research and Learn ing during the year 1988/89 during its assessment of the phenomeno logical movement, fifty years after Husserl's death.
