A relação entre artes performativas e intimidade exprime-se em múltiplas e contraditórias valências, criando possibilidades heurísticas com profundas implicações sociopolíticas. É neste enquadramento que, por intermédio dos seus criadores, o teatro e as artes performativas têm vindo a desenvolver interessantes formas de lidar com problemáticas da esfera íntima no mundo contemporâneo. Sendo que o trabalho performativo conduz invariavelmente à investigação dos processos corporais, emocionais, mentais e relacionais da condição humana, esta edição pretende, através de uma abordagem interdisciplinar e intercultural, contribuir para o mapeamento do conceito de intimidade na sua relação com as artes performativas de forma plural, política e afetiva.
