A presente pesquisa analisa a criação e estrutura da Lei no 11.101/11, a qual institui a Secretaria Especial dos Direitos Animais – SEDA, no Município de Porto Alegre e que tem como objetivos executar políticas públicas destinadas à saúde, proteção, defesa e bem estar animal. Este trabalho apresenta as principais leis infraconstitucionais referentes aos animais não-humanos domésticos e domesticados, bem como o art. 225 da Constituição Federal de 1988, que trata da proteção do meio ambiente na ordem constitucional brasileira e de sua importância para a proteção da fauna e, especialmente, dos animais não-humanos. Analisa o conceito de fauna, animais domésticos, cão, gato, cavalo e o conceito e exemplos de crueldade para com os animais não-humanos no Município de Porto Alegre. Examina também a competência do Município para legislar sobre o meio ambiente, sob o olhar do interesse local, e a relevante questão das ONG's e da educação ambiental no tocante às políticas públicas para animais domésticos e domesticados.

While computer scientists are developing FRT in order to design more intelligent and interactive machines, businesses and states agencies view the technology as uniquely suited for “smart” surveillance—systems that automate the labor of monitoring in order to increase their efficacy and spread their reach. Tracking this technological pursuit, Our Biometric Future identifies FRT as a prime example of the failed technocratic approach to governance, where new technologies are pursued as shortsighted solutions to complex social problems. London's Docklands has been described as the largest redevelopment area in Western Europe. This book tells the story of that redevelopment and by doing so examines a number of critical issues concerning the regeneration of urban areas. From the first dock closures in the early 70s, the area has been the subject of various and competing plans.
